I can't wait to see how the author corrects the abomination that was this chapter. Oh wait, I can, I'm at the point where if no explanation is given, I'm dropping this. Kuzumi lost all the respect he had earned the previous 37 + omake chapters as a man.

I can get the desire to extend a story by inserting artificial drama so that the story goes for a couple of chapters longer, but poor storytelling will still be poor storytelling.

These characters have known each other for around 2 years. Responses from Kuzumi I can relate to as an introverted guy are either: 1) run away WHILE acknowledging Sakura and yelling "sorry" like if he doesn't know how to answer, which she proceeds to understand as "sorry but I don't like you" and she feels she got rejected; or 2) Stay still, get all flush, not be able to say a word, and have Sakura interpret his silence as him not wanting to hurt her feelings and she is the one to run away. Afterward, the rest of the chapter could work the same as the cliche of the misunderstanding.

After reading Holiday Love before this update, I do not mind this little drama at all. At least I can still tolerate it.

And from time to time I'd like to see this side of Kuzumi.

I don't think it's poor storytelling at all. I still find it cute. 😊

I couldn't agree with you more! After reading chapter 38, I can't help but begin to dislike, even detest, Kuzumi. What an effing jerk. Right now I hope that he and Erika never, ever become a couple. She deserves better. He had the decency to turn down what's-her-name, but to just run away from, and then completely ignore Erika after she confessed? What a jerk-wad.

It's funny to see how people blame kuzumi for one silly mistake, yes what's he doing is wrong but doesn't forget Erika is also wasn't that saint either, the fact that she can't be honest with herself before this is annoying as shit. Now just because she is the first one to make a move, she's already the victim?

Oh Lord, how unreasonable this word indeed.

kuzumi was never be the one who want this relationship to begin with so... not saying what he do is pright... maybe he wasn't prepared?

That... isn't what I was expecting.
Well, I hope this will be corrected in the next chapter because I totally hate the current mood.

So sad to see the response of many people who said "Kusumi is a total jerk"

Really, I didn't find anything wrong with that.
Instead I really like this development. However, it really is unexpected because the option is 'run', at least better than cheap reason like interference from others which will end up forcing the story to be extended. The development of Kusumi's actions more into triggering a misunderstanding between them. We all clearly see the signs of Kusumi have feelings for her, but the only answer is 'how'.

If he doesn't like her, he will do it as before; refused without a second thought. But, Kusumi also didn't expect unexpected developments with Sakura's confession. That's why, compared with 'no feelings', I think he's more like this; between confused, surprised and shy that makes him run away.

Don't mention it anymore, we all know for sure that Kusumi is not an open person in expressing feelings and hard to read his expression (this is one of greatest possibilities). Then, connecting how he got a nosebleed, positive thinking, maybe he thought about it all night and could not sleep.

At least we can figure out that things will not return to status quo. Despite her saying that's what should happen, it won't. If I had to guess, this gloomy atmosphere and Kuzumi not saying anything will go on for a bit, but as soon he does reply, it's most likely a confession as well. That, and the supporting cast will probably help out both sides.

Sure, this took a direction I didn't exactly expect, but I'm at least glad Kuzumi actually heard her, instead of him just "not hearing" causing the whole scene to just be a huge gag. Because that would've set everything back to where it was, and I wouldn't have been a fan, honestly. Interested in seeing how things develop from here.

The Kuzumi we have known since chapter 1 is a character that is smarter than he seems. He avoids conflict but doesn't run away from it, instead, he defuses it. I can get him being caught off guard, but him JUST running away without doing anything to acknowledge Sakura, is something the Kuzumi we know wouldn't do. This is the reason why this chapter was bad to the point where I might drop the manga.

Something that would have aligned more with the story we have been shown so far, something that fits in with these characters, would have been Kuzumi giving any sort of acknowledgment, and Sakura misunderstanding THAT, not the fact that Kuzumi ran away. Have Sakura pour her feelings out, and when she opens her eyes, she sees no reaction in Kuzumi or have Kuzumi blush and look down in a way that could be interpreted like he is thinking "how do I turn her down" so that she misinterprets the whole situation and she is the one that runs, thinking she has been rejected. There were ways to prolong the story and cause this "misunderstanding" that would have aligned more with the characters that have been developed.

The problem lies on Kuzumi himself, his autistic behaviour making impossible to create interaction with him.
He barely talk, always do that dumb blank stare and do strange things as in his own world. How we can expect him to start to relationship with Erika if Kuzumi himself never trying to fix himself?
Poor Erika to fall in love with wrong man, he should go with blondie he understand her well than Kuzumi did, heck i doubt Kuzumi has capability to care to her.

Implying Kuzumi could prepared himself.

I am agreed in that part, he did nothing, literally NOTHING so he should not be blamed....yeah.
What Kuzumi need is go to therapy in autism rehabilitation centre to fix himself first before starting relationship with someone.
As long Kuzumi not change himself yet to start open then he should go die rather torment a beautiful girl Erika with his MC charm plot.

Watching the Kuzumi x Erika couple has began to be a little boring. Although I'm convinced that Kuzumi would catch up to Erika, but Kuzumi never reacting is a bit annoying.

On the other side, the other couples are really interesting.

It's becoming a pattern for people in this manga to run when they're confessed to. I guess running is also a reaction, but it feels more like the mangaka injecting more drama to pad out the pagecount.

"All the times I had fun being with Kuzumi." (Erika) - uhh, where? Literally every time she's with him, she ends up getting angry that he isn't paying attention to her, and worrying about what he's thinking or how to make him look at her. Doesn't sound like much fun to me.

I honestly don't understand what Erika sees in Kuzumi. Maybe it's because he's the only guy who hasn't fawned over her so far. This is among the couples with the least chemistry I've ever seen in manga.
