He seems to have packed him a bulletproof vest... Even though those are completely useless against melee weapons unless they have heavy steel inserts. Besides steel plates; it might have been a ceramic, or composite laminate plate vest which is lighter than the ceramic/steel variety for ballistics. They make specific vests for stab protection and spike protection as well, which incorporate plastics and/or mail to stop bladed and pointed weapons (knives, screwdrivers, glass bottles..etc). I doubt it's only soft body armor like kevlar, which like you mentioned, is useless against everything but bullets. Guess the only way to find out is to see what's on the inside of it. Though that will be a long ways away because |
