THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It's hard to believe that Season 5 is related in any semblance to Season 1. What an amazing start to the season.

+ Human motions are smooth, facial animations look realistic, actually quite good and not jarring.

+ Choreography changed since season 2 which didn't cut away from the action and showed the elegant choreography across various landscapes as well as introducing powered attacks all unique depending on the sect.

+ Despite being given very few clues, I've been very engaged with the clash and various agendas between all the groups, some outrightly villainous, some neutral, some supposedly on the good side. I can't wait until the final season clears up all the intrigues.

+ The story is plodding along nicely with nice historical references here and there.

+ Show manages to combine something as nonsensical as the mechanical beasts and magic and make integral in the plot (construction of the mirage). While it doesn't hold a candle to the high fantasy books and films that have crossed cultures it is a wonderful attempt in including mecha, magic, martial arts, historical and philosophical fans together.

Personally I really don't see the need to introduce the Shadow group. What we have now (yin yang, drifting sand, net trap org, confucians, mohists, qin faction, Mt. Shu, Xiang tribe of Chu, Xiongnu is quite enough.) Though to be fair the animation for the shadow group chief assassin is on par with Final Fantasy and that's saying something.

ayy I noticed the improvement on the art as well, the background looked absolutely stunning. I personally dislike the more realistic take on the facial art though, especially after 4 seasons long of what we had.

The story starting off kinda different from what we've had in the past, getting a narration by someone we don't really know. Hopefully it gets clearer later on what their roles were.

Excited to be part of this journey!
