This movie was extremely similar to episodes 20, 21 and 22 of the TV series. Did anyone else watch this after watching the TV series and feel like they already knew what was going to happen?

^ a little bit, the theater setup, the falling glasses etc is quite similar, but that's as far as the similarity goes iirc, been a while since I've watched ep 20

I like the movie a lot, but I don't get why they have to make chopper a murderer as well, and was she ever captured or did the guy shoulder the crime for her? What was the real meaning behind the sports analogy within the conversation between Kindaichi and Noujou? Why did Kindaichi cry when he's never cried before in the original series for any culprits? What's inside the tape that's so bad he didn't want anyone listening to it? I thought it was a rape video at first but it didn't seem like it.

also I think the characters are a little out of character here compared to the original tv series, is it just me? It feels like they're younger vs the tv version.

So this movie exist before the TV series
Kindaichi voiced by Yamaguchi Kappei, certainly feels very weird

I guess it counted as self-defense for Christine

That ending, running > car
Anime cliche is too cliche xD

It was really different from the TV ver.
Kindaichi have a lot of same name story arc but different story (and characters) in movie ver.
Why though?

I know I am a genius for replying to a 10 year old post but that tape had the recording of the death of Mika.

So I haven't watched the episode that it is similar to, I am only up to the first three cases of the anime. Overall, this was kinda weak compared to the other eps I watched but considering this came out before the actual TV series, I guess that's good. Characters felt a bit different from the TV series. Some of the scenes had great directing and some had really bland directing. 7/10 at best

I know they're both common cliches and settings but the island + theatre setup made me think of umineko especially with the dinner scene when they find that note. Is it just me or did the first half move too quickly? I feel like some of the second half could of been cut so more time could be spent on developing the characters at the start. With the murder of the Mika or whoever in the past I didn't really feel strong enough motivation, though that may have been the translation. Given that the other girl who died by chandelier was the main cuplrit behind Mika's death, I think more time could have been spent on her than just showing "She's a bitch, I guess". I was confused about some parts (again, the translation was poor) but I enjoyed it overall.

Edit: also the doctor character was really pointless wasn't she?

I am really surprise that this came out before the TV episodes. Wonder if it's the case for the other movie as well. Anyway, it was decent for the most part. The last part especially, during the end with the culprit was dragged out. The visuals don't necessarily have any improvement even though it was a movie although some scenes did have some cool angular layouts. All in all it was decent one. Can't really compare it to the TV version because of watching it a long time ago.
