THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This episode would've much better if Claus died saving Kureha instead. It would definitely make him a better character and make me care about him just a bit more than I already do, which is not a lot, if any. It is also confirmed that it was Rio's father on the telephone and judging by the way she was hating on all the kids while she was on the rainy bridge, I assume that she blames herself for Illya's death because she was a brat in the past. Only other thing remotely interesting was the Class 1 priority message given to Rio. Now if only they can just get on with the plot already instead of handing us little tidbits of information. And I seriously hope that's not the only action we're going to see from spider tank. |

The LIES! This episode exposes Claus' deceiving ways to lure in an innocent loli! Sorry; it reminds me of the emotional scars left behind in discovering that Santa Claus is a total fabrication! Pertaining story-wise, it would have been better for him or Kureha to die. If it was her, it would symbolize the pain of not letting someone know the truth of their beliefs when they die. The regret is like a splinter in the mind. It drives you insane sometimes. A very common after effect of war but that theme is too mature for the audience to handle and it doesn't fit well in this animu. |

Noel was moe once again. :D OK episode, better than the last one. And although I don't want Kureha to die, I have to agree with this: Maximatum99 said: Pertaining story-wise, it would have been better for him or Kureha to die. TBH was there not more juicy panty shots ever than any other episode....oh wait I only remember a flash of Kanata's panties in episode while in this one you have all this=> |

My word, Noel looks rather scrumptious in her black pajamas. Anime needs less males in it; I'm getting a little sick. |

Dang those black PJ's.... Anyway, I liked the tenseness of this episode though I was darn sure Claus was gonna die. I guess I feel glad for Kureha but in the context of the show since I know they can get a little dark when they want to, it would have been a little better. And yay! Spider Gundam got used for something finally. |

Thought there was a decent chance Claus wouldn't make it, thus adding a little drama to the episode. Alas, nothing happened - again. Not that the death of a one-off character would've meant anything in the end, but oh well. About the only thing I got out of this was a little more info on that mystery lady, yeah that one. |

haha.. good episode.. cute PJ's.. kanata was so cute.. and Noel, too.. Francis, the pantsu are not erotic.. they're cute.. don't defile them.. also, it's good to see that Kureha knows that Claus is not Miracle Claus because she saw his chest does not have a tattoo but still end up being the person he admires coz she was saved by him.. that's more worth it than a person he has not personally seen before.. as i said from last week, i enjoy the forums of this anime coz i get to see murderers who want violence and people dying.. what's the point in making everything dramatic and make him die if you are expecting it anyway.. anyway, this week's message is "Most of the time, what you think you see in the person and what they're feeling are different. Admiring someone always makes your vision blurry. Someday, when you're looked at in that way, you'll understand." .. this applied both to rio and claus.. not really a powerful message this time but it's something to remember for me.. so again, no plot.. but hell i care now.. i did not designate this show for that.. |

This anime reminds me of Bakemonogatari in one way. Almost every episode tries to put forth some meaningful message but spoils things by adding some sort of perversion, either in image of dialogue. When one considers the plot, it is obvious there was no necessity, whatsoever, to show partial nudity of minors. Furthermore, there is no valid reason given for having an only women squad in this show. It might be that underraged recruits exist because the high death toll during the previous war thinned the ranks. If, however, that is the reason, then this show should have breached upon the subject very early (and it still hasn't). Unless, of course, it pretends that the three younger recruits are actually adults which would discredit the authors of the show entirely (seriously, they look 14 at most). There is obvious pandering to some rather unsavory fantasies, here, which is sad considering that what is said in this anime is often interesting and true. |

My patience with this show is really getting low now. Filicia has been bugging me for a while now but this ep I almost snapped at her. I mean she acts nothing like her age, it's almost as if she knows all the ways of the world and has lived through life 5 times. I know she watched her entire squad get slaughtered, but in that case she should be lying in some psychward with a severe case of PTSD and not be a captain(!) and a squadleader. Ok just had to get that out of the system, it's really annoying... And continuing what kerlyenai said, there has actually been scientific studies done that proves that putting together an all female squad is the biggest mistake an army could ever make. Why? Because women don't work together. Make em live together for a week and they would try to kill each other. It's scientific facts so don't shoot the messenger now. Which is yet another factor as to why I have started having issues with this show. They haven't killed each other yet. In fact no one has died outside of a flashback yet... (and the average age of the girls is actually 15. and francis, if they had turner syndrome, no way in hell would they ever be let near a weapon what with the other symptoms they would show) /rant |

For that matter, neither does Soranowoto. And how does 'perversion' affect that any way, regardless? What's perversion in them not having pants on anyway? It wasn't really played for anything at all, they just happened to be in lingerie. Something people (though predominantly women) are in the real world, too. Or so I hear. I mean, god forbid I defend this exercise in mediocrity, but I frankly think there are real problems with this show, as opposed to the characters being in some state of undress. Also, 'why are they all womengirls' is frankly as weird a question as 'why are they all men' would have been if they were all men. Given that the world is in such a horrid shape that the seas are dead and knowledge seems to have reverted at least a century, it's rather obvious they'd take whatever recruits they could. Especially to defend strategically useless positions. As for the episode, it was meh. Like any other episode of this show. Its sole strength, the mesh of allusion and showing-not-telling, is kind of wasted as it's not really used for any effect at all, it's mere ornamentation (which we, by way of Loos, know is a crime). |

Once again, I disagree that this is just done innocently. It is a distasteful trend in many anime to pander to pedophilic tendancies of many viewers by including gratuitous scenes of partially nude young girls in suggestive poses or viewed from deliberatly chosen angles. This anime has also shown a propensity to pander to fetish fantasies as well, and what is offensive is that they involve children. It is, however, likely that more women would be taken into the ranks of the military due to a shortage of recruits but I believe the creators of the anime put only women and young girls in the main cast of the show for the sole reason of pandering to a portion of the male audience whose tastes and fantasies I find repugnant. I wish we lived in a society where there really was equality among the sexes and in which women weren't often treated like objects made for a man's ease and pleasure but, unfortunately, that is not yet so. In such a world, asking why there were only women in this anime is not weird. Of course if there was a show pandering to some women's fantasies debasing men or young boys, then asking why there were only men would also be legitimate. lol comparing Bakemonogatari and Sora no woto. I mean, I can't see noting that two have in common except the fact that both have a few of girl squad. Bakemonogatari is strictly oriented for the otaku population. Tsundere, kuudere, yandere, yuri, lolicon explains all. In sora no woto, it majors the plot more than the character itself, even though that plot itself fails. If you don't know, there is already an anime about magical teenage girls who are all in military, mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha and striker witches. You should compare them instead. However, bakemonogatari has nothing to do with SRNWT, seriously. kerlyenai said: Once again, I disagree that this is just done innocently. From what I've seen, sora no woto has even less involvement of fetish than what naruto and needless has. What are you talking about? You are saying like sora no woto is some kind of nasty hentai.I wish we lived in a society where there really was equality among the sexes and in which women weren't often treated like objects made for a man's ease and pleasure but, unfortunately, that is not yet so. Most of the animes are unrealistic, and that's why we like it. There is nothing wrong with having girls in military. I don't care. The thing really matter is, how much sense it is making when those girls in the military can't even use gunpowder well. Ah, actually, this whole series don't really make sense. However, same thing goes to almost all animes. Still, idea itself of 'military girls' is not bad. It's just the fact that they screwed up the most of the episode introducing senseless plots and pee jokes. |

Goo4 said: lol comparing Bakemonogatari and Sora no woto. I said they had one point in common, just one, which I detailed. It's unfortunate you somehow missed that. My comparison was absolutely valid but you are of course entitled to think otherwise and be condescending in your expression of dissent as much as I am entitled to be sarcastic in my response. I have no clue why you brought up Nanoha and Strike Witches since my argument has nothing to do with either but you are, once again, free to talk besides the point. Goo4 said: kerlyenai said: Once again, I disagree that this is just done innocently. Once again, I disagree about this having been purely because of the fictional context. It is, however, likely that more women would be taken into the ranks of the military due to a shortage of recruits but I believe the creators of the anime put only women and young girls in the main cast of the show for the sole reason of pandering to a portion of the male audience whose tastes and fantasies I find repugnant. From what I've seen, sora no woto has even less involvement of fetish than what naruto and needless has. What are you talking about? You are saying like sora no woto is some kind of nasty hentai.I never said Sora no Woto was the worst amongst shows that pander to perverted fantasies, and never once compared it to a pornographic production. In fact I said that the little pandering it did ruined it's otherwise commendable intentions. If I had been equating it to something as lurid as hentai, I would not have been so measured in my statements, for measured I was. As for Naruto being more fetish oriented, I suppose we have been watching different shows with the same name. Needless I have never seen and so I cannot discuss. Goo4 said: I wish we lived in a society where there really was equality among the sexes and in which women weren't often treated like objects made for a man's ease and pleasure but, unfortunately, that is not yet so. In such a world, asking why there were only women in this anime is not weird. Of course if there was a show pandering to some women's fantasies debasing men or young boys, then asking why there were only men would also be legitimate. Most of the animes are unrealistic, and that's why we like it. There is nothing wrong with having girls in military. I don't care. However, same thing goes to almost all animes. Still, idea itself of 'military girls' is not bad.I never said women should not be in the military! I only said that choosing a cast of only women and young girls was most probaby done to please a portion of the male audience. I am starting to wonder if you are deliberately distorting my words. Surely, it is impossible for one to be so incapable of understanding such simple statements. Goo4 said: It's just the fact that they screwed up the most of the episode introducing senseless plots and pee jokes. There was no "pee joke" in this episode and as for the senseless plots, I have criticized them in the discussion of the previous episode. The reason I spoke about pandering this time around, is because it was the most apparent defect in this episode. |

Sure, it attracts male population more, but it's not the real point of this anime. I just thought highly emphasising on girl fetish thing on this anime was a bit off. ^ It's funny that you are this predictable. You don't need to repeat the fact that you have another girl to fap in IRL nor in your real world. That's not a rebuttal; that's not even related to what Wasabi said. So, your statement didn't change the fact that; Wasabi said: you're a pedophile if you find 12 year old girls like Kureha in their undergarments exciting. |

Come on guys. I may not totally like loli service but in terms of anime, it does not label someone a pedophile. However, the way francis describes it sounds kind of lewd. I guess it's just too damn hard to resist trolling him. |
