| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Not too much baseball this chapter. However, I liked the growing development of friendship between Takumi and Gou. It seems both are starting to accept each other and Takumi really does acknowledge about needing a catcher. I still don't like Shun much though. |

| First we get Days a soccer anime with no soccer this season, and we have Battery a baseball anime with no baseball. If this is how sports series are now, I hope there don't make anymore Initial D because it will be a show about racing without any cars. |

| The main thing I dislike about this series is that the characters act like adults, but are just 12-14 years old. Also is the drama way too forced. And Takumi is a huge c*nt |
| Decent episode, In fact it might be my favorite episode of Battery till date, The drama felt right for once. Interesting point that Takumi's grandfather made, "Don't be someone chose by baseball, Be someone who chooses baseball". I think I finally understand what Takumi's grandfather was trying to tell him. Having been born a talented pitcher, Takumi devoted his entire life to baseball, He never experienced anything else or even tried to. His love and enjoyment of baseball is not 'This is the thing I love the most' it's more of 'This is the only thing I do, So I love it'. It's like that common saying "Do what you love or Love what you do". Takumi falls in the latter half and his grandfather wants him to be someone in the former. Kadowaki is pretty cool, Like how he got Gou motivated. Liked the scene with Takumi and Gou travelling on the bicycle, The end with Gou saying he didn't want to give up being a pitcher was nice and Takumi saying he wanted to climb a tree seems to show that he's taken his grandfather's advice. |

| With Battery, it's often the words unspoken that matter the most. Harada hinting that it's not because of Gou's skill that he pitches to him and Gou expressing that he's the only one who will catch Harada's pitches. Not because he can, but because he wants to. For both of them, it comes down to that mutual feeling that they're a battery because of a bond deeper than baseball. |

| Oh my god. That scene in this episode where Gou was cycling the bicycle and Takumi sit on the back was so romantic. (lol) I don't know why, of course I'm not referring on that one. But yeah, that scene was also very calm and heartwarming. |
| The show is really hyping the Kadowaki/Harada rivalry, or is it only Saionji and Shun that are into it! I still don't get why people are always asking Harada and Gou stupid questions like, will you pitch/catch for someone else? The Fuck? |

This could be Battery in a nutshell. I think I get it. Battery feels like a writer's platform for talking about the passions of youth and choosing your future, but using baseball as the framework for this character drama for middle schoolers struggling with their path in life. I think the writer wanted to create this eye-opening inspirational story for kids, or perhaps even young adults who are still lost. I just think the overall message comes across too strong for the context of the show. |
