Ha that outfit. Ryuuji looks like a girl.

Not much performing this week. I see the show is still concentrating more on fleshing the more prominent characters

the whole stuff with the memory loss and the paparazzo was kind of over the top for me, but besides that it wasn't a bad episode. ryuuji crossdressing and acting like a kid was funny :>

Definitely the strongest episode so far, holy shit. This is the level of quality I want to see.

I'm really glad they put so much emphasis on one character in this show, because I'm actually gonna cosplay him and I wanted to know more about him so that was perfect. :^)

Insert song sounds great too.

I agree with satelights' comment that this episode is mainly aimed to bait fujoshis. To be perfectly honest, I'm very disappointed with this episode! B-Project marketed itself as an 'otome-genre' project (and this is very apparent in their mini drama CDs on their first song albums) yet here we go with another BL-ish episode.

There's just so much things Tsubasa could do this episode, yet they chose not to let her do anything at all!

This is most otome anime's problem imo; they kinda go overboard with the BL bait just to get more viewers/people looking at their stuff - it's weird: why can't they just stick to their intended audience?

It's not just B-Pro, even. There's Prince of Stride, Kamigami no Asobi, and OZMAFIA!! anime (which... doesn't even have its heroine in there at all).

On another note, I'm glad they let us look just a bit into each characters' secrets. Mikado, Osari (+Nome), and Momotarou seems like they have secrets they don't want to share.

Still disappointed though - if the whole fujobait still goes on in the next episode, I'm afraid I'll have to drop the series entirely. Though it's not like I'm completely against BL - I just don't understand (and dislike) otomes which markets BL and any BL ships in an otome.

Just my 2cents.

Photos or it didn't (won't?) happen.

Gyaaaahhhhhh, I love Ryuji so much (since ep 1), so this episode was a total festival for me. Took me an hour to watch with all the times I stopped for screenshots. (Totally not joking.) And that endcard!

Hahaha I loved the endcard :) Ryuji has become my favorite character and so I was glad to see an episode dedicated to him. Though like a lot of other viewers I thought that the content of the episode was a little over-the-top... Amnesia in anime is always done soooooo badly it seems XP

One of the things I did like though was that the friendship between Ryuji and Tomohisa was actually developed. (Well, some are calling it fujoshi-bait... which it probably is... but also I think it serves as decent characterization too.) It's one thing to showcase each boy's personality individually, but I'm actually more interested in how they work together as a team (since that's what B-Pro is all about). Now I actually believe that these two are friends/have a deeper bond than some of the other groups/are invested in each other/etc etc etc.

Yeah thanks to this episode I've come to accept that Tsubasa is pretty much useless. But drawing a bigger audience is probably one of the main purposes of this anime; that way there can be more fans who will buy merch, play the otome game, and whatever else the B-Project franchise offers.

And of course, if Tsubasa is just a female-insert character with no personality or development or talent or anything, then tons of viewers can imagine themselves in her shoes by overwriting her (lack of) personality with their own.

Preach that's exactly my thoughts. I dislike BL so I find annoying that they put BL-ish moments when it's supposed to be an otome anime.

I also agree that the amnesia was pretty cliché and silly, though maybe I'm just numb to it at this point and don't care so much. I also liked that there's a bit of a backstory and deepening of the characters and relationships.

And I think "BL-baiting" is mostly in the eyes of the viewer. If fujoshi and fudanshi want to see it, they (we) can. But if you don't particularly care, you're not as likely to draw that conclusion. There's nothing overt here that says "Yes, we believe Ryuuji and Tomo are totally sleeping together". Ambiguity lets studios appeal to multiple audiences intentionally: to rotten folk who want to believe there's something more intimate, and to those who like other aspects but not necessarily the BL. If you actively dislike BL, you may be turned off by such ambiguity, but I'd argue that at that point you're looking for it in order to avoid it, in effect seeing it regardless of the studio's intention (just like fujoshi/fudanshi). After all, you can't avoid something if you don't know where to find it. In both cases I think it's a matter of finding it because you're looking for it.

I agree with this, I thought this episode only made it clear they care about each other a lot.

Speaking as if BL/GL is used as bait is kind of ignorant as a lot of non-romance shows like to tease romance between a girl and guy a lot but don't go through with it. Do we call that het-baiting? LMAO

This show doesn't come off as otome/reverse harem at all, not even from the start. Utapri is the only one that pulled that off while having idols as all of them are in love with her but this show, it's more like IDOLS. IDOLS EVERYWHERE. Rather than "doki doki ilu haruka"

A very good point. I can understand how people can get tired of it though. I personally am pretty fed up with lucky sukebe moments that are totally out of place in anime that are meant to be somewhat serious. It's probably the same kind of thing.

True. I've even seen BL doujinshi for OreImo and Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, anime with only one memorable male character each. Never underestimate the power of an imaginative pervy mind. lol But I've also seen straight (NL) doujinshi for series like No. 6, Osomatsu-san, Owari no Seraph, and several other titles with a strong BL following. I guess everybody ships what they want, and that's fine with me.

I mean, even sismance (girl friendships) get yuri and stuff out of fans. It's not just fujos with their homo goggles on. I know both Love Live and Idolmaster have a lot of yuri shipping in the fandoms. The only one that lacks shipping was Shounen Hollywood and that's mostly because it's not even popular in the first place.

But wasn't Love Live was actually a yuri game once upon a time? Maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn I once read an article on AnimeNewsNetwork about how the old games offered quasi-lesbian routes for fans to play.

Anyway, that aside, I totally agree with you. Fans will ship BL/GL with everyone and in every show, even if the characters are only in one scene together (or none at all, haha!), either because they like the chemistry/dynamics or they think it would be a good personality match or whatever. Of course with a mostly single-gendered cast they're going to go crazy!

(Though maybe I only think it's silly because personally I'm not that much into shipping, especially the BL/GL stuff. I like no-drama clear-cut romances where the two characters are obviously a couple, no love triangles, lots of stability and obvious signs that these two people are a thing :P)

No, it's not a yuri game at all. I played both EN and JP versions and it's pretty... tame. LOL People sure like to bend things. It's friendship at most. Nozomi gropes everyone tho.. But y'know.. Just Anime Things.

The best part of this episode was the young cameraman's reaction! haha

Also about the BL thing... I also think its was overdone in the episode. To the point when people who dont usually ship guys togheter like myself just cant help but to ship it! But since it sortof comes with this kind of shows, I can deal with it

Amnesia + stalker, perfect xD Ryuuji is such a cutie, if he had slightly longer hair I'd totally believe that he's a girl! Poor Tomo though, I want to see his face when he found out about his gender >D

Anyway, I was surprised to see how young all guys were, when they were picked to be part of B-Project, I was sure it happened just before anime started O.o But it seems it's been a few years ago, whoa.
