| Yes! Their appearances are kinda different but I agree, Ryota in Slam Dunk had a piercing on his left ear, too! :) It looks like Inoue Sensei ships Ryota and Ayako and wrote it after he finished Slam Dunk. ♥ |

With Kaede, a lot of it ended up in Slam Dunk while with Piercing it seems to be like an alternate take on existing characters. Inoue just having fun. Kaede Purple came before Slam Dunk. It was like a Slam Dunk prototype before the actual characters and story were properly set in Inoue's mind. Pierce was written 2 years after SD ended. Though Inoue never directly stated nor denied it was related to Slam Dunk (we all know it is), he states in later interviews (after you guys wrote in this forum) that it was written out of regret. Because in Slam Dunk, he never wrote anything for Miyagi's character. So this isn't necessarily an "alternate" take, he was just providing some backstory. |
