To serve as a nice/interesting foil to Missy's topic, rant here about anime/manga that nearly everyone and their grandmother seems to worship, but you absolutely fail to see why.

However, it cannot be something that's considered "polarizing" or love-it-or-hate-it. So no Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach, etc -- it has to be something nearly universally loved across the board [or close enough to it =P] and you just...don't like it.

I expect everyone to be civil and respectful in this thread, too. Not that I think we'd have that problem, but I'm just getting it out there. We can't all like the same things, right?

Anywho, as for me...I'm gonna stick my neck out and say Lovely Complex. I can appreciate the humor and some such that it brings forth, but otherwise, it just felt like the formulaic "girl-and-guy-like-each-other-but-can't-spit-it-out" type deal. That, and Otani's sheer thick-headed obliviousness made me want to reach through the screen and strangle him half the time. >_>;

SO, how about the rest of you guys? 8D;;

I enjoy the currently airing Kimi ni Todoke, but there are so many crazy fanboy/fangirls with an enormous hard-on for it, and I cannot for the life of me understand why. The slice-of-life portions are good, but not THAT good, and the romance fluctuates from solid to horribly tedious.

As a slice-of-life about a lonely girl coming out of her shell? Good. As a romance? Done WAY better by many other series.

Also, Lucky Star is half-funny, and half obnoxiously boring. Sorry.

I was going to say Escaflowne, but I've hated on that in enough places lol. I'll go for something different and say Full Metal Panic! (Excluding Fumoffu? which deserves its reputation.) I could never connect to Gauron as a lead villain, and it is even worse in the second season with Gates, who is WAY too over the top to take seriously. The Second Raid is just so freaking schizophrenic. On the other hand, I would gladly take a series about Weber and Melissa jet-setting around the world as international super-spies if it would get Melissa into more dressing gowns. ;D

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Usually series I dislike have mixed reputations already, haha. I'd defend Lovely Complex, but it's not too much more than a solid series, and I don't think your criticisms are inaccurate. I mean, Toradora! takes a similar initial concept and absolutely smokes Lovely Complex, so it's not as if there aren't better games in town, haha.

Funny thing about Toradora -- I almost, almost had that down as my example, but not only have I not officially completed the series [never watched the last few episodes], I've been giving it a serious consideration lately for a rewatch. I dunno, I guess the admittedly dumb circumstances that turned me away from it are over with now.

Anyway, as for another anime...well, actually, it's kinda hard to think of any more for right now. Although I do give a "special" nod to Dead Leaves. It's Gainax, it's crazy, so I should enjoy it, right? AHAHAH WRONG. I felt more nauseated than anything else. And people like to go around saying how "CRAZY AWESOME" it is, and I just kinda give them a blank stare. =/

To be honest... Chrono Crusade.
Ducky got me to watch it before she went back to school; I had heard nothing but positive about it from others and even wanted to try it out myself. Suffice to say, I was pretty disappointed.

Sad thing is, there are a few parts I do like... kinda. I mean, I like Rosette and Chrno's relationship, but I think that's the only thing I really liked. ._. The rest of the show has 1) too many pointless big boobs, 2) really frickin' dark and dreary environments far too often, and 3) a plot that made me go "WTF" in a bad way one too many times.

Seriously, I just don't get it.

EDIT: Also, it teetered too much between "HAHAH THIS IS A COMEDY" and "OMG WTF DRAMA".

EDIT the 2nd: Okay, I thought of one other thing I liked. Certain scenes with the main villain were really well done. But that's it.
