| Surely it felt awkward to not see any "fusion bug fusion", but perhaps we had too big expectations? After all, there were many different types of magical bugs out there. Some were explained, some were not, but only a small percentage of them were actually used. |

It was a red herring. They introduced it to make fans think they were getting a fusion, but we got Super Saiyan 4 instead.
| @Nionel yeah this, it would also be weird to have a third type fusion for goku and vegeta other than gogeta and vegito, and it would take away the fanservice too if it was something completely new that people aren't familiar with, super saiyan 4 was the best choice they could make to bring something fans love into canon, just like broly and gogeta in that movie |
