BanG Dream! Ave Mujica Episode 1 Discussion

Really annoying that there's no subs currently out there which translate the on-screen text, because I feel like I'm missing a lot of important context in the second half of the episode without those translations: especially for the texts sent during that moment which began CRYCHIC's demise. Song lyrics remaining untranslated is also annoying, as if MyGO is any indication those will be massively important to the narrative.

That aside, a solid first episode for this new band with a very strong ending note with the masks already coming off. My only actual complaint plot-wise so far is that the extra layers of Sakiko's backstory became laughably predictable the moment her mum appeared on screen: it's a very cliche backstory, but effective enough.

I guess the whole point is that its not a normal anime


So this whole ep was basically one long sob story
Like in a sense its even worse than I thought
Like I get that its just a setup for whatever happens next its just really what even is this
And I dont really understand it feels like theres been a few leaps here and there between the flashbacks and whatever is going on with mygo

EDIT: Reading other comments it seems like mygo takes place directly before this
I wasnt really planning on watching another ep anyway or even in the first place

THIS IS HOW YOU START A NEW SEASON. Not like the overrated MyGo anime, that just left me wanting to give up on life entirely. Ave Mujica is already making it's way into the top five for my animes for 2025 and we are only three days into the new year.

Already the first episode of AVM is insult to intellect: the "laceface five" casually waltz into Budokan, where TogeToge couldn't arrive in a whole season. If that was so easy, everybody would be a superstar! The story immediately feels pretentious and heavily manufactured, catering to otaku psychopath stereotypes with low-hanging plot points. Animation is only little better than the very stilted MyGo! was, nowhere near Garukura.

I'd say the second half of World Dai Star is a better take within the wider "psychological" trope.

It sucks that it gets such a low rating due to it's CGI when the show itself is really good

@Tacsk0 You missed the whole point of setting. This is not a story about a new band climbing up to the top. It's a story about a top band falling down.

@Marina2 Does anyone believe that this story is going to have an end with the fall of the Mujica bird? Let's not forget that the real group exists. There will be a lot of drama, but (in my opinion) no falls
