For years, I’ve heard that the TG manga is substantially better than the anime. When watching the anime it was so unbelievably bad I legit starting falling asleep during day time in anything past s1. I’ve always had a grudge against this series for some reason maybe bcuz it’s too edgy or I dislike kaneki idk. I’ve seen a few panels of the TG manga and they seem like my style despite my pickiness of art so I was thinking I should give the manga a proper chance. Is it worth it? Is kaneki inspirational or does represent some philosophy making him a character who’s story is worth reading? Are there any notable antagonists? lmk if it’s worth reading.

yeah the manga is a lot better(especially everything after season 1), it's not a masterpiece by any means, but it's very very good! 👍
I really think you should give it a shot, because I don't think anime experience is anything related to the manga one! read it ahaha!

It's 100% worth the read, it's miles ahead of it's anime adaptation. Kaneki is a much more interesting character in the manga compared to the portrayal in the anime and the side characters are more fleshed out. And the fight scenes are of course all works of art.

S1 wasn't perfect but if it made you fall asleep you're probably not gonna like anything in TG. S1 had plenty of high points. The manga is great. Probably not for you though.

Yes. 100% the manga is a masterpiece and the anime did it no justice. Also - my favorite part is that they actually show Kaneki remaining the soft-hearted bean he is and not just a weird fucking edge lord like in the anime. Read it. You won’t regret it.

I never saw the anime but read the entire manga and it wasn’t nearly as good as everyone makes it out to be imo. The first series has a fantastic hook and carries its premise decently well, but re: was a mess. If you like typical seinen that try too hard to be angsty, you’ll probably like the TG manga.
