Osu!
Dragon Ball helped shape the Shounen genre, spread Manga/Anime to almost every corner of the world, and certainly changed the lives of many boys and girls – it certainly changed mine!

In so many stunning episodes, there’s one that, inarguably, raised the bar.
Where were you when Son Gokuu first transformed into a Super Saiyan?

I vividly remember the experience. 14 year kid, school’s cafeteria -packed with people- the bell had rung, but nobody moved a muscle. An eerie silence, and then, the scream of a hero who changed history.
It was truly spectacular!

I think I was 5, watching it at home on the TV, and my older sister (who already saw it) was hyping it up as we were watching. Constantly telling me “Look look, he’s doing it, Goku is turning into a Super Saiyan!!” Even though my eyes were firmly glued on the screen haha.

I was 16 and JRPGs, Starcraft, and building computers were my life at the time.

I had a job so I could pay for a second phone line and then upgraded us to cable internet for the crazy 5Mbps speeds some time around there.

Napster and Kazaa were awesome and the ThePirateBay came in with all the incorrectly named files you could download malware from.

Seems like years of stuff crunched into a couple weeks looking back now.

Shōnen's not a genre, it's an age/gender demographic. Nothing more.

My older cousin sat me down every Saturday night at age 4 and we both got hyped over the new ep that was dropping. It eventually became a routine for me and I’d stay up pass Cartoon Network just to watch it. Honestly a great time to be alive.

I was 3 when I first saw the marathon on Toonami, then I would get up at 6am to watch OG Dragon Ball before Kindergarten.

Legendary moment in history. Unforgettable. I still get chills thinking about it.
I was in my living room, watching with my little brother. I remember jumping on the couch and screaming from the top of my lungs in complete shock and disbelief,
“HE’S A SUPER SAIYAN!!
HE’S A SUPER SAIYAN!!!!
HE’S A SUPER SAIYAN!!!!!!”

That shit changed everything. It changed us. None of us ever imagined such a transformation. It is impossible to describe the impact it had, or to duplicate it.

A defining moment of my childhood.
