On top of being a huge badass warrior and stoic dad, sacrificing a luxury's worth of sheep for a man on his deathbed really spoke volumes about Thors' character.

1000's Iceland isn't a setting you see every day. Looking forward to where this goes if it already starts out this strong.

First ep was good I think, nothing *wow* that made me in love with the series but I think this could be that slow but interesting start to an amazing show :D
Well, at least I hope so.

But I really like that it's about vikings!!

I did not read the manga so I have no idea what to expect yet.

Great start to what will definitely be a great story. Shows the harsh world that this show takes place in very fast but also gives us that little glimmer of hope. Vinland. I want to know more about Thors and where he comes from. Also the ending theme was amazing. Aimer did a great job

Slicing at sea. An unstoppable wave of death. Lightning and hail. In the freezing waters. He swims to shore? The child of the survivor. In 1002. Thorfin. He called it Vinland. Erickson. They made friends with the natives. The yormengander. When you sail a ship you fight against the sea. It’s chilly. She steals his warmth. Normal? A person. They ate ice to try and forget their hunger. Did he eat them? CPR. Harold took Norway from them. He doesn’t believe the more believable story. He lives. From beyond the mountains. He claims the only thing that looks good around someone’s neck is a chain. He mutalates his own soldier for mocking the law. A tail told to the dying. He is trading his survival for a dead man. They are runaways like him. Where would they go if they needed to escape from here? 3

The opening sequence showcases fluid and impressive animation. However, I believe I will understand it better or grasp its implications in the coming episodes.

The land of Iceland, in its cold, represents warmth and comfort to the protagonist. In close-up shots of frozen branches, it reveals its delicacy, at once immense and oppressive to the figure of a slave fleeing his master.
The icy sea, seen through the eyes of a child, symbolizes whimsy and adventure. Yet, it harbors stories of escape, exile, and dangers that arrive unannounced.

These dangers are not confronted with violence or an exhilarating final battle but with a man who, despite being a warrior, chooses to pay whatever he can to save a life—a life that holds immeasurable value.
The story of Vinland Saga will likely follow this synthesis of a beautiful yet harsh world, where doing what is right means doing what is difficult: making a sacrifice.

The protagonist intrigues me. He is unsettled by the flight of his ancestors, which is, in truth, an act of courage. The children see no value in an explorer who reached the Americas (Vinland), no matter how fascinating he might be. They reflect a cold reality where values are rooted in blood, and I am curious to see where this will lead.
