Usually, when an anime was under Netflix, I always had the impression that every anime that was being licensed/Acquired by Netflix was guaranteed to get dubbed in English and other language no matter how popular or niche it was, sometimes it get a weekly simuldubs like My Happy Marriage and Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi). To me, this one is kinda like Vinland Saga but with the astronomy, and this is anime that i holding out for english dub to come, i think a dub would be fit for the setting of this anime, (a fictional 15th century europe) than OG JP Voices, but hey that just my opinion no offense.

Just like Blue Box (Ao no Hako), this is anime is also popular, and i was kinda shock that both of the anime didn't get an english dub, so will this anime get an english dub ?

Idk if it’s in their plans to give it one, but I’m with you in hoping it does. This series is incredible and feels like it could reach a broader audience than just anime fans, and I think giving it an english dub would be much more inviting for those people to watch it. It’s also something I wanna watch again alongside my family, but they only watch dubs so for that reason I also want one.

I don't see a reason for them not to, the show does seem to be doing incredibly well on this site.

Welp, aside from mismanagement by licensors. Suppose we do have our share of those in the anime industry

Yeah, I don't get how dubs work at all, there's a bunch of dubs for worse/less popular shows, but I don't particularly care unless it's good.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

I never watch dubs, but in this case it isn’t really an anime as much as an animated historical drama. It would gain more support with a dub but I really don’t like that ‘English’ dubs are usually in annoying American accents rather than English. Sorry Americans, I like marvel and most American action movies, but somehow it doesn’t work for me in anime.

I also don't like dubs but the reason that it doesn't sound good because they try to make it sound it like the original and the anime voice acting in general is not how Japanese people talk and with a dub it sounds as cringe as an anime voice will sound to a Japanese person. The only reason we like it is due to the language barrier since we don't how Japanese people talk. Infact, anime Japanese is not even real Japanese and is specifically made for anime. Anime in general have a lot of cringe comedy moments that sound way more cringe in English due to that as well. But ofcourse that isn't case with this anime since it doesn't have cringe moments so it won't sound wierd in English. Sometimes some anime are so cringe that they sound cringe in Japanese as well. I think there should anime like Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal OVA. They look and sound really good due to the serious atmosphere and lack of comedy.

@LittlexLittle I think that’s true in a lot of instances, but a lot of SOL and less hype anime use natural Japanese like Yuru Camp and Takagi-San. I am actually studying the language so I’m pretty immune to anime Japanese anyway. But yes, the mostly American accented dubs can be cringe just due to the high pitched voices of girls and macho boys especially in shonen. Things like Frieren are done well, and surprisingly I liked Marin in Dress Up Darling dubbed, the gyaru personality suited the VA perfectly. But as a nihongo no seito I prefer the original.

I'm guessing it'll get a somewhat similar treatment as vinland saga, probably a dub after it's done airing definitely not 3 years later doe. And this anime isn't really popular in the west at all so the producers probably didn't have many expectations going in. Better to dub it after you see that it's well received than waste time dubbing something barely anybody will watch.

That’s an interesting idea, probably a fair conclusion but I haven’t watched either so can’t comment, other than a Japanese anime with Japanese VAs is obviously made for the home market in their own language so not really… But if the dubs are good, I’d expect the watching experience for what I imagine to be dialogue heavy shows is probably good in dub as it frees up the watcher to enjoy the visuals more instead of reading. Personally I’m a Japanese language student and like to listen and learn to the sentence construction so that doesn’t apply to me, but I appreciate that the dubs are probably interesting with real ‘English’ voices.

Honestly, we do not know. I would love to see this series dubbed, especially since the subject matter is grounded enough to appeal to non-anime viewers.

The fact that Netflix did not even dub this show right out the gate is kind of worrying. In fact, I do not recall a Netflix exclusively licensed anime eventually getting a backlog dub by Netflix themselves. As pointed out by one other poster, if Orb does get dubbed eventually, it might be years down the line. And most likely with a different company like Sentai Filmworks.

With the lack of transparency with what goes on behind the scenes on what shows gets a dub or not, it does feel at times that the decision to dub certain shows are determined on the basis of a random coin toss.
