Let’s talk about the stars in their eyes. [anime watcher, not manga reader here]

While watching this I, like many others, contemplated the meaning of the stars. I looked it up and read many theories, most of them centered around hopes, dreams, and lies.. even some opinions that it’s hereditary.

I think it represents a disassociation from reality. Mental instability. The less grounded to reality the character is, the bigger the star. What really fascinated me was when a characters eyes turned into galaxies, which I started to see as a representation of the characters delusions of grandeur or maybe more “their crazy is showing”

Shes got her head in the clouds. Well, some of these characters heads went beyond the clouds and completely out of the atmosphere.

Naturally, the black stars are a more sinister borderline psychopathic type of mental damage.

Anyways. That’s my take. If it’s ever explained by the writers then missed it, and if it’s not I’d like to hear your thoughts.

I love to look at as natural born stars in some cases where star eyes are constant.

In the case of Akane, it's getting in the character and using her full potential, and with that becoming a star.

For black stars, it's using mental strength in the full potential driven by strong emotions.

Galaxy eyes, in case of Arima Kana, is perfectly getting into the character and achieving peak. Which can be looked as distancing from reality.

Finally, we have case of Melt, which is reaching to the star as the highest point manageable with hard work and without talent.

I hoped this would be about Akane's yandere eyes, but I got disappointed.
No, this isn't my signature.

I think the stars are “stored emotions”

They can be transferred (like aqua and ruby)

Black stars are revenge/despair/guilt/very bad emotions lmao

Galaxy stars (like arima) are emotions of happiness, achievements, love, and attention. Like they want to shine the most out of everyone, (method acting ish)

I have a hunch that everyone goes to black stars eventually like a virus but it’s just a random thought lol

Some people can obtain it but some can’t get rid of it (aqua + ruby vs akane + kana)
