To be fair, ep2 was it's lowest point, especially after we had our standards raised with ep1. I'd say it improved significantly in ep3. And some shots were actually really well done in ep4.
As a whole, I think the biggest problem came down to the pacing. 4 episodes was never gonna be enough to fit the whole story, even with godlike ep1 animation. the worst example of this has to be the Jack in a Box ending. Completely shoehorned in at the last minute like they forgot they had to end it. A damn shame cause that was one of my favorite moments from the manga.
Overall, I can actually say I enjoyed it. I had really low expectations after ep2, but 3 and 4 actually brought me back, somewhat. It gave me the creepy vibes I had with the manga at some points, which was a surprise, heightened by the scoring and VA. But it really needed more screen time for the story to breathe. Credit where credit is due though, I think they made the most out of a terrible situation.
Also, I still want to acknowledge what a brilliant decision it was to make it black and white.

Imho ep 3 was significantly worse than 2. While 2 had worse animation, 3 had one of the worst pacing I've ever seen in any work. It was just random stuff happening back to back. I lost all hope in the adaptation after 3, not 2.

Okay we heard it enough times, that ep 1 was incredible and 2 was shit and then it picked up little bit. Let it rest now.

Jason Demarco should reflect on his magnificent feats first.

I think they should made a movies in several parts,
only then I guess they would have made more profit yet good Adaptation
just imagine the first episode as first part(btw Ik there should be a cliffhanger but that wouldn't be a big deal I guess

Episodic stories don't work as a movie. It should be like Junji Ito Collection/Maniac and adapt ~2 chapters per episode

then it should be adapted like Pluto and 1 hour is basically a movie for me
and something like Demon Slayer, a combination of multi Episodes in single movie
btw I have seen horror movies with atleast three different story/ characters in single movie
I mean that can justify better then this

This by far was one of the worse anime horrors that I have ever seen. The premise of the series was interesting and the use of black and white animation sounded really interesting, but everything went downhill after episode 1. I can't really say anything good about this series and I wouldn't recommend it to a horror fan.

The pacing was its biggest problem, whereas the music was its biggest strength, in my opinion.
