I was never fan of Kappei Yamaguchi in original Ranma 1/2 and i thought his performance was weakest, so i was pretty disappointed to see him voicing Ranma again.

Ranma was his debut role.
It's safe to assume that after 35 years of experience his performance can only have improved.

Don't be a hater before the series has come out, c'mon.

The OG cast is literally perfect sub and dubbed, You can’t get more classic.

Sorry you feel that way. I'm happy he's still playing as Ranma. He has done great work over the years. Kinda nice that he's being recognized for it by being asked to come back for the remake.

If they were to dub the remake with any of the oldschool dub cast, that would be wild. I always liked Ryoga's dub voice especially (plus he's my favorite character)

I watched the leaked first episode. I found both Ranmas to be the best voice actors in the show.

I haven't really had any experience with Takahashi's original works, neither manga nor anime. I did however watch the Urusei Yatsura remake, and I was really satisfied with the casting (duh, star cast). I did enjoy that it felt modern both in style and in the semi-modern cast.

Although I''ve never watched or read the original Ranma, it did feel like something was off with casting the originals though. I do think a remake would be a great opportunity to give some new talents a chance to breathe new life in this, as it feels kind of unnecessary to make a remake other wise (other than actually finishing the run this time?), and with the fresh look of the anime, I would have also preferred if the characters sounded a bit more modern, although I think the cast did well enough with the performances.

I do see the appeal of catering to fans of the old show though, and I can understand why they decided to. In some cases, like with the Spice and Wolf remake, this can be a great choice, since the voice actors are integral to the feel of the characters in that case, but I honestly just don't want 60yo Usopp voicing Ranma.

tl;dr big agree, wish they'd gone with a fresh cast

Yes, you really do seem to be the only one. I think the current dubbing is great to be honest.

yes, you might actually be the only one. from my experience, recasts don't live up to it anyway.

I'm so happy he's back, actually! I love him in the original show, and I also love him as Shinichi Kudo! :D
