the mangaka should get the final say in what is and isn't shown in the adaptation of their work

I don't think that's a good idea. Remember when Stephen King adapted one of his own books into a movie and it totally sucked?
Just because you know how to write doesn't mean you know how to make a good movie.

The original Spice and Wolf anime was a lot better because it deviated a bit from the novels. The team knew how to adapt it into an anime. They didn't just copy paste the story.

The same thing happened to the Youjo Senki anime. It's great. In the past, I started reading the Light Novels and they were... not that great. The team adapting that story did outstanding work.

About 20 years ago it was a real problem with studios butchering some source materials, because they wanted an ending when the source didn't have one, yet. And as it turned out people that are good at adapting stories into anime are kinda awful at writing endings.

My point being that you shouldn't let the author mess too much with an anime adaption. They are good at writing and should let the people that are good at adapting handle things. If the project is handled by a team that is bad at adapting, an author telling them what to do and what not isn't going to help.
@TransferUser

like i said, i as an artist, want the artist/creator to be happy with the result, cause even if the adaptation is a success, it doesn't necessarily mean the creator has to be happy with it

and im not saying the mangaka has to help physically make it, im just saying, they should have the final say in what is and isn't shown or left out so theyre satisfied

I Like it.. Saw all 12 episodes and it was a trip down memory lane..
I like the opening and ending songs
Also I love nabiki.. They made her outfits sexier than the original series..
Nabiki in tank-top and her shorts are shorter and tighter than before.. But they made her face too round an her eyes less slanty and sharp which is a negative..

They also made soun tendo mustache too thick.. I don't know how they are gonna used the small mustache joke in the later parts..
Genma looks better than the original series..
Kasumi should have been more thicker..

Still going to watch it, and I'm only slightly disappointed since I don't want to see female Ranma's nipples anyway (and reading the manga, they only really show female Ranma's nipples and there's only one scene that shows Akane's and one scene that shows Shampoo's, and one scene that shows another female character's). But yeah, fans of the original manga and 1989 anime have every right to being upset since the nudity was a memorable part of the original anime and manga (assuming the Blu-ray release is also censored) and any sort of censorship, whether its gore or nudity, is annoying. This show also doesn't really have a story anyway, since it's mostly an episodic comedy with some action arcs here and there that doesn't advance anything, as it just resets everything in the next episodic episode. Unless they plan to adapt every single chapter of the manga, this will be inferior to the 1989 anime. Also, don't know why someone who avoids anime that has the ecchi tag would touch anything Ranma 1/2 related since even if it is an action-comedy and rom-com and gender-bender, it's still an ecchi.

@finalfantasy7 I agree, the animation is awful and very cheap looking and flat colored.

So much scandal and outrage for such an insignificant detail. Two stupid dots above and one stupid line below. Are some really going to crucify this new version and will reject trying it for something so trivial?

The ecchi was never the main driver of the series, contrary to what many make it out to be. Yes, there were boobs and butts, but these were always something occasional rather than an episode constant, many are seriously overstating this aspect of the series. And if they are not going to show nipples and butt cracks this time that doesn't mean the main spirit of the series and actual reason to watch it is being butchered, which is the characters' interactions and funny dynamics in a romantic slice-of-life comedy mixed with martial arts and a tad of fantasy. NOT the nudity and playing with sensuality. Ranma was never a real ecchi show and the tag the original series gets is both wrong and misleading.

You're making a storm in a glass of water. And if this dumb censorship troubles you that much, well there's always the original series there to go and that's it, no need to wish for the studio in charge of this remake burn in flames either.

You don't adapt a manga like that just to add unnecessary censorship. This remake is looking more and more like a watered-down, ugly, and crappy version of the first anime, like the one for Urusei Yatsura. Why remake excellent anime only to make them worse? I won't be watching it.

Censorship is bad even if the thing being censored doesn’t bother you personally.

People who don’t get this say "it’s not even a big deal", if it’s not a big deal then leave it as it was meant to be and then everyone is happy.

I wont be watching.

Well, I was afraid this might be the case so I've not really had any excitement after the announcement of the new anime.

Ranma is one of my favourite anime and manga since my childhood, so I'm fine skipping on this twisted piece of garbage (unless they're gonna have an uncensored Bluray release).

That doesn't sound very convincing to me. Especially when taking One Piece as an example as One Piece doesn't show anything in the manga either. But we'll see when/if they come out. Again, I'm not holding my breath for it.

There was no AT-X release scheduled, you would have to be an idiot to think there was any possibility of nudity on a non-parental lock station. Crying censorship is beyond dumb, it was never going to be feasible to make this uncensored with Japan's current nudity laws on broadcast television.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.
