Hoped for some improvement this season after the mediocre season 2, but the budget just gets lower and lower every season. The game sequences definitely took the hit, there weren't even that many fights this time around. It seems pretty rushed, you get bombarded with names of teams, usernames and players, ain't no way anyone remembers them. Then some of these randoms suddenly get recruited by Ye Xiu for the Challenger rounds and boom they're with him at the internet cafe, who are barely interacted with. Meanwhile they keep yoinking and speedrunning those bosses. 4/10

1 episode isi only 12 mins
the pacing is atrocious
the animation is garbage & often rotoscoped
many matches are skipped.
they spent too much time on blahblahblah, boss hunting and practice matches and not actual challenger league.
It's sad that the Live Action was so much better than this

Ye Xiu's team won, no surprise there. Sun Xiang forfeit because he knew he couldn't win, at least he matured a little bit.

Su Mucheng to officially join Xing Xin team and she'll be able to play with Ye Xiu again!

Ye Xiu said "I'm back." what a boss haha.

Jesus Christ. The series was popular, yet it seems they did not put enough budget on this season. It felt like I was watching a decent quality hentai. Heck, I know several hentai that has way better animation quality than this. Not only the animation but the pacing is also horrendous too. Pacing for both the story and character development are just...

If this is getting another season, I totally hope it will not turn out as disastrous as this. There were some supposedly enjoyable moments such as Su Mucheng quitting Excellent Era but because of the pacing, I could not get a chance to feel anything, which was a total waste. So many wasted potentials. If only the pacing was at least better, then maybe I could forgive the low-tier budget animation.

Overall, I am fucking disappointed.

This is so ass.

There are too many characters in this anime to care about any of them, none of them are interesting, they are as "interesting" as real life professional League players. The designs are way too similar, I swear there are at least 5 dudes in there with bowl cuts and glasses, none of whose names I bothered to learn, Fakers at home status. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that they expect you to memorize team names, character names AND game nicknames, the Chinese names in general feel confusing and alien to memorize, and the available subtitles are garbage. They talk about quest, skill and item names as if I'm supposed to know what they're talking about, at this point I'm convinced half of the dialogue is supposed to not be understood by the viewer by design. The only thing you can say about this boring ass mc is that he's good at the game and is smug about it. The power balance make no sense, sometimes "good players" aoe the fuck out of the group of people but in the 1 on 1 scenario apparently it's not that easy and it's not happening. The plot is... they want to win the tournament and that's it, really? Damn, everything about this is so bland and grey

Oh and yeah, like the rest of people are saying, blah, blah, blah, the visual quality drop... but personally that's probably the only thing that hasn't irritated me about this season and anime in general

@combi2015 That's a pity because the novel is fantastic and did justice for every character. Yes there are many of them but all are unique and have some great story.
It is quite average quality adaptation but I am just happy it exists. Still way better than live action one.

@zongxina Just started watching the S3 and sprint it. Wow, the hype is so different from S1 and S2. It went downhill. So many yadda yadda yadda and blah blah blah. This season is just crapload. They need to buckle up if this is getting S4

disappointing finale for a disappointing season, really wonder what happened to the studio that made the beautiful prequel movie

This was supposed to be THE episode, 3 seasons and ova of tease for this was so sad to see, this was supposed to be a spectacle

Anyway story wasn't well presented also, too much characters introduced in a short time and too much filler

So yeah i think i'm officially done with this, i mean its not the worst ending, Ye Xiu proved to everyone that even with his age he's far from washed up.

4/10, more would be hard to give tbh.

@GangsterCat Come on man, Live Action was complete dog sh*t - butchered and cut plot, some cliche drama subplots and decent but made up CGI scenes that little to do with novel.
Also blah-blah is actually important since it conveys the spirit of novel and characters. I agree things were rushed in this season and budget is low but it grew on me as it progressed.

Beginning of season was disappointing, low budget was visible right away. It is shocking it took studio so long to release this season.
It grew on me though and I still love it. Things were rushed (I believe final with Excellent Era was around 50 chapters) but I still think that main points were covered.
My main complain is that you don't feel in the series how actually difficult was for Happy to go through qualification and beat Excellent Era. There was huge gap in skills and equipment and Happy worked hard to reduce it.
I wish they spend a bit more time on touching moments (i.e. teams disbanding, players leaving etc. as they are as important for the story as fights). But at the same time there were plenty of comments here who only wanted fights. I suggest you watch JJK, Wistoria or something like that.
Kind advice. If you couldn't catch up with names and characters up until here, you will struggle even more in future.
In my opinion first half of novel is better than second (main competition).

Final 3 episodes were excellent.

Such a pity that same level didn't occur throughout.

Still... a very entertaining anime, and an easy 9/10 for me specifically due to the characters and the writing. Enjoyed it immensely.

Now I'm off to watch the prequel film and the drama adaptation :)

Group Match was interesting to watch. In the end, Sun Xiang withdrew because he knew he couldn’t win. Happy Guild wins and enters the professional league.

Everyone knows the truth behind Ye Qiu’s retirement now. Excellent Era is put up for sale.

In the interview, Chen Guo announced that Su Mucheng will join Xingxin from the next season. Ye Xiu’s words to the professional league — “I’m back”. Such a cool move.

Nice season finale.

the pacing is too fast, each episode is too short, they also changed some of player names and teams too.

regardless, the secret of his retirement are finally out.
