Whoever made the decision to cut the length of the show in half midway through production (according to rumors, but based off this episode it seems undeniably true) really needs to get kicked in the groin multiple times. How many times? As many times as the amount of doomsday mechas that Norland pulled out of his rear end to make his plan as impossibly threatening as it was conveyed to be.

The original series is well regarded to have had one of the best finales in the history of anime. This seemed to try its best to insult that legacy with an ending that was so rushed, poorly produced, anticlimactic, undeserved, and pointless, that while this series had plenty to like, it would have been better to not have been made in the first place. It's easily one of the worst finales I have ever seen.

The few things that do get resolved are done way too quickly while the majority of other plot threads aren't mentioned at all.

Well, time to go rewatch the original series and its finale again to wash away whatever this was supposed to be.

With the OG series they had the build up and justification to lead to that ending but with this one they just wanted to be grim for the sake of being grim. It's a nonsensical ending. However I did feel the show was pretty good up until episode 9, which after that the last 3 episodes were extremely rushed.

It sucks to see because I was hoping for a completely new CG experience with interesting characters, which we did partially get but the rushed story really ruined it all.
Oh god who are you people?

The docking scene totally reminds me of Gundam Seed Freedom.

Anyway, what a rushed ending. And I really felt the original casts, especially Suzaku and Kallen, are nerfed. They were the aces on the previous war as we have seen them how skilled they are and yet it seems they are struggling with Lokis while Ash seemed he did not have any difficulties on fighting against them? I just could not be able to convince myself with that. Come on, give the previous casts a moment to shine that at least they have tried fighting against Norland.

Look, it's a simple fact that these last few episodes were too rushed. I would have loved to see a 24 episode version of Roze of the Recapture.

Having said that...I still thought this final episode was quite good, all things considered, despite the preceding pacing issues.

First, Ash was objectively the most developed character over the course of the story. With that in mind, shifting the camera over to him was justified and, by extension, his interactions with Sakuya/Roze during this episode were both necessary as well as appropriate for the conclusion. Emotionally speaking, he was really the only person whose loss would matter.

Second, I felt the battle itself was an improvement over some of the others, since it required a degree of thinking to figure out how to overcome Norland's Foulbout.

I won't deny that a lot of questions were left unresolved in terms of the state of the world. Frankly, they'd need a whole extra episode or two to address them, which didn't happen.

Even so, I don't think that perfection is required in order to appreciate anime, let alone in this day and age.

They really saved best girl's cameo for the last episode lmao

Turns out "You will win" isn't as OP of a command as "You must live". RIP Ash (unless he lives up to his surname)

The idea of a Code Geass continuation that didn't focus on Lelouch held a decent amount of promise, which makes how half-baked this finale ended up being such a shame especially when it's from the same franchise gave us the Zero Requiem.

Sakuya/Rozé and Ash's dynamic was pretty good! That ending had me feeling like Norland during the resolution. It was way more tragic then I was expecting.

The cameos were fun, and I feel this show really did the Code Geass formula justice. 8/10!

man they really played me. first time i watched the trailer i wasnt interested, then seeing the first few ep got my hopes up, then the last few episode with the blender machine just crushed my hope... Norland was very boring.... i felt like they set the scale too big. they had the plot alr, save sakuya, simple but its more than enough. they should have just stick with that considering its just 12 ep and it would have been alright, instead we got norland going ham only to just end like that

This was so unsatisfying. Killing Norland in such an anticlimactic way then KILLING ASH FOR NO REAL REASON?? I was liking this series even though the quality was no where near the original but this ending was so rushed. with that and other little things that went nowhere (Lelouch giving the geass and having one cameo then not appearing again), it definitely makes sense hearing that they might have decided to cut half the episodes halfway through production. So disappointing.

What is this! It could've been 23 episodes. Yes, it still won't be as good as the first installment. They could've at least expounded on some story lines and showed more Code Geass tropes, which is what people came for.

Man, what a shit ending. Like they killed off Ash for no reason at all. Dude couldn't just detach the blades or take them out of the Foulbout? Also, correct me if I'm wrong since it's been a while since I watched the original Code Geass, but since when could a geass user use their own geass on themselves? Or why not still use a voice modulator that only ever so slightly changes her voice so it still sounds close but is technically not her actual voice so she doesn't accidentally use her geass again? I mean I understand the whole resolve thing, but then she could've used the geass command on herself to make sure she never takes off the voice modulator/uses her geass powers again. Man idk why I bothered to keep watching this.

Shitty final episode ruins all the goodwill put in this series.

I don't even want to write a review. Why bother? The studio has no care for Code Geass nor its fans.

They thought they just needed to throw a bunch of pointless cameos to please the fans.
They thought they could copy-paste the good stuff from the og show without us noticing.
They literally took Disney Star Wars as inspiration for the scenario.

The series is full of great scenes. Awesome characters, great fights. Literally none of that evens things out, because the main vilain and his masterplan are shitty.

Sunrise, let Code Geass die already.
Everything changes. Even the happy and funny things eventually disappear. How can I still enjoy this place then?
- Furukawa Nagisa (Clannad)

You have to make a choice. Either you give up on your soul for the sake of science, or you give up on science to save your soul. In my case, the soul was already in pieces.
- Lloyd Asplund (Code Geass)

Do you understand the meaning behind Nunnaly's smile? She can't see or walk. So there are things in this world that she knows she can't do alone. Her smile... is her only way to show gratitude.

we never know the real reason why norland wants to genocide humanity so i guess one of sakuyas guesses about it is true

ash died damn he has no ejection seat? parachute where? wtf

sakuya cast a geass on herself in the mirror too to never speak again in that way she can never use her geass power again damn

and no lelouch and cc in the final episode but we got kallen cameo

the mecha fights are cool for the entire show though

also even if sakuya and ash did not fight norland in a few days kallen and suzaku and the rest of the world will fight norland anyway so kinda pointless death from ash

welp at least sakuya is still sexy beautiful until the end and catherine survives

The action choreography was epic, sunrise went all out there. Sakuya and Ash duo were very smart and took out the mecha using calculations and precise movement, that's absolutely neat. Unfortunately Ash died but pretty much everyone else survived. It would have been nice if Ash was there with them too but it is what it is. Narah's working in the orphanage now it seems and Catherine will be joining her. Sakuya's resolve to seal her power, she has done well and she will from here on. We got a short Kallen cameo this episode as well. Post credit scene with Sakuya, Natalia and co was nice. The cats sure got big. Also wait Youko was underage? Lol that was surprising.

This was a fast paced action focused season with nothing complicated and pretty straightforward. Pretty much liked it entirely, nothing great but certainly had a good time watching it. Liked some of the new characters and we even got some nice fanservice. While I liked it, I still hope they won't make more from code geass franchise and give it a rest already.

Man, I am not satisfied at all with this ending. I don't think the show was bad, I thought it had potential, but 12 episodes was definitely not enough. I don't think it's fair to compare this with the original show when it has 1/4 the original's runtime.

Also regarding the characters, I really liked Ash and Sakuya, but they barely developed any of the side characters, well not that they had the time to. I'll always love the pose Sakuya does when she uses her geass though, that is cool.

I did like that Norland died the same way he did Nichol, but I am not happy Ash died along with him.

Personally I still enjoyed the show, the cameos were nice and the best part of this last episode is the few seconds of Kallen we got.

I wish things turned out differently, I would have loved to see more Ash and Sakuya, but it is what it is. 7/10.

I wish we saw more of sakura and sakuya's dynamic. I wish we knew why lelouch was okay with giving sakuya a shard of the geass despite CC saying their entire goal nowadays is to collect all the fragments...? Lots of fanservice in the sense of showing us original beloved characters but then doing nothing with them, like hi Suzaku! Bye Suzaku! I do enjoy how they flipped the ending of who dies in og code geass in this series. I did cry but also everything went so fast it definitely didn't have as big of an impact. To be fair code geass was a 40+ episode anime while roze was 12. With the time they had to tell a story I think they did a pretty okay job.

Utter trash. It's a 4/10 for the good job technically speaking from Sunrise. It's pretty well animated.

But they defiled Lelouch amazing journey and efforts to deliver a terrible, clumsy and boring narrative, dialogues and characters.

This final clash with the boring as fck villain was simple unbelievable in the worst possible way.

Code Geass is not well suited for a 'expanded universe'. It never was a interesting universe from the start. I hope it was the last time. Seriously...

After this finale, I gotta say this has been one of the worst endings I’ve seen in anime. It’s so obvious the finale was rushed.

Was Ash even trying to take down Norland? That battle literally just lasted a few minutes.

I don’t know what to say about Ash’a death. It was kinda predictable from the start either him or Rozé would go down, but I still think his death at the end was predictable in a bad way.

Also, why did Sakuya have to mute herself? Just command herself to never use the Geass again, simple. She threw away her voice for nothing.

A lot of questions have remained unanswered, plot lines unresolved. I think this anime should’ve been longer.

Kallen is back! She's looking hella good from the 5 years since Re;surrection.

AHHH no midair gattai, just Zi-Artemis carrying the motionless Zi-Apollo

With Ash under Geass again, they're back to their previous nameless mercenaries dynamic with Sakura strategising.
Impaled by crossed blades, payback for what Norland did to Nichol in front of Ash's eyes.
One can win but still die... she should've given Ash the same command as Lelouch gave Suzaku.

This whole series introduces yet another method of mitigating or cancelling Geass yet Sakura does not use it, if Arnold and Scissorman's deaths meant the Neo Birtannian research was lost, Leila was already in Japan and Jeremiah could've at least made a cameo but nooo, she had to mute herself. Other Kallen, and the main portion of the Foulbout vs Zi-Orygia battle, just a poor ending.

Maybe I'm glad Lelouch and C.C. weren't involved aside from that ep 4 cameo for such a rushed and underwhelming ending. There was so much potential and actually interesting parts of the story that hooked me but I would not be surprised at all if this blunder was due to Roze supposedly being over 12 episodes as someone commented above (which it desperately needed). Shoutout to Ash though for easily being the best part of the story but so awesome that Sakuya thinks Sakura dies a few episodes prior and we never even see them reunite until after the timeskip lmao????

sadly this series was a 9.5/10 for me until this episode, kind of didn't understand why some things happened if they have simple solutions (like an emergency expulsion from the knightmares) and why sakura sealed her voice besides being a rushed end, would give it a 7.8 but the closest number is 8 so yeah not as good as the original as you would expect

And it's over... I will miss this series, watching Rozé weekly was interesting. I didn't expect that ending with Ash and Sakuya, it gave a bittersweet conclusion. I don't deny that the pacing could have been slower, but it didn't bother me that much. Having 2-cours wouldn't be a bad decision at all in this case.

Also good to see Kallen there, even though she just had one line.

And I finish another series, the first one of Summer 2024. Goodbye, Code Geass Dakkan no Rozé. It was a good journey. I might rewatch it someday.

I enjoyed most of this season and I'm a big Code Geass fan, but after the sixth episode, it was way too rushed and generic.
Ash was a great character, my favorite in this season.
I really wished the show ended in a different way, even the seal on the Geass seems a cheap decision.

I loved this anime so much , but the Rushed ending probably killed any hope from this series , there was absolutely no reason to rush it.

I expected that Ash will die at the end to make it as cool as Lelouch's death or something (it wont be) , but this fast? that was disappointing.

Now what's the future for this series? I don't think there is coming back after this , although they announced that after Fukkatsu no Lelouch that they are going really long with the series.

Also why Kill ash? What possible reason or sin could have casued Ash's death? seriously..
