2 things is this an Isekai? And will there be a Time-Skip if there is a time-skip how long will it be? Please No Manga spoilers, just want a yes or no and maybe a short summary.

Isekai:
I believe this is an Isekai bc Yorishige says he knows the future and kinda acts like he was from the modern time so he could have been a like teacher, historian, etc.
Also after this episode, don’t ask why I don’t really know I believe Takauji is also from the future

Time Skip:
Now the time skip I honestly just hope there will be one and not have little kids killing grown adults the whole show especially after seeing how strong Takauji is. He was having a conversation and slicing everyone’s head clean off, and then all the civilians asked if HE WAS OK and just said F the prince.

Please don’t say anything about my grammar and spelling I’m high asf rn.

Cloverworks back to peak form, and surprisingly they didn’t screw up the horse scene with cgi. They were capable of this from the beginning so it’s very confusing why the previous episodes had so much cgi.

This is by far the best anime from Summer 2024 anime season in my opinion. The way that past events are presented, how Kamakura shogunate is being reconquered and Tokiyuki’s adventures with Suwa clan are extremely great.

Takauji Ashikaga surely is the strongest warrior. He must work hard and come with strong techniques in order to defeat him and take back the Kamakura. It seems that Sadamune won’t be a bother for a while.

The animation is peak. The most beautiful moment from this episode was when Genba lit those flames to his rope when he fought Sadamune.

It’s the most underrated for sure (since Makeine is eating way too much of the hype), but Oshi no Ko is still at the top

The animation was INCREDIBLE !!! The motions the symbolism... I seriously enjoyed that . Especially the end with a bit of a look into the current prince's inner world with an experience that was so intimidating and polarising, it really resonated with me, I could feel the distress . this is just what really stood out to me - overall the different relationships forming / developing / being shown were also done well . Every episode is so interesting and exciting . So much to talk about

You’re right. I haven’t seen Oshi No Ko yet. What’s your opinion about it, is it worth watching?

From all anime I’ve seen this season, “The Elusive Samurai” and “Senpai wa Otokonoko” are the best.

The way a character is portrayed by a manga author can only be said to be the author's style.

In pre-modern Japan, the distinction between a child and an adult was based on the rites of adulthood. Social approval is absolute, and biological age is not definitive.
I couldn't find out the age of the real Hojo Tokiyuki at the time of his coming-of-age ceremony, but the Tokiyuki in this anime is not yet an adult.
The name "Tokiyuki" was claimed after the ceremony instead of his childhood name. The name of an individual is unified in this story because changing the name of the same person can easily confuse modern viewers.

It is a common misconception that Tokiyuki was a sheltered kid who didn't have to worry about anything.
A lord of a samurai clan was responsible for all the retainers under his command (ιƒŽε…š [routou], you've learned it in ep. #03). In particular, the Kamakura regime thoroughly reformed and institutionalized the basic concept of the lord-retainer relationship. They repealed unwarranted exploitative or one-sided relationships and then introduced mutually beneficial ones, in which the lord gave lands to his retainers, and in return, they fought for the lord. This was carried over into subsequent samurai regimes (there are numerous scholarly comparative studies contrasting this with Western contractual relationships).

An heir to the samurai clan grew up aware of his obligations to his future retainers. Even as a child, Tokiyuki in this show is now already in a position to take charge of the destiny of four retainers of his own.

The Kamakura Shogun was the supreme commander of all feudal samurais in Japan. Tokiyuki would have been expected to receive respects and services from all the warriors in the future, and in return, he would have sit in the position to give them rewards, honor, and paths of life.
The Hojo clan has been giving assurance of the territory of the Suwa clan, one of its most major and loyal retainers. So Yorishige, as the head of the Suwa clan, fulfills his duty to protect his late lord's only heir and helps him to revive the Hojo clan with the fate of the Suwa clan at any stake.

Underestimating Tokiyuki as a mere dimwit scion, Genba has gotten revealed his narrow insight, which is demonstrated by the fact that he did not realize the possibility of receiving a province if he served him. On the contrary, for our lordling Tokiyuki, a bounty is to be paid in territory or honor, but not in cash here today and gone tomorrow.

In addition, until the criticism has been published by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the 18th century, children everywhere in the world were "babies lucky enough to survive for five years," "small adults," or "unskilled laborers." It is only that they are sometimes exempt from labor due to their circumstances.

Frankly speaking, this period is not of much interest even to the common Japanese unless history nerds, and the warlord Hojo Tokiyuki is not a prominent figure. On the other hand, the development of the weak and the few defeating the hordes through brilliant guerrilla warfare excites people's minds.
It can be said that the manga author picked up a buried gemstone from deep history and polished it to shine up -- he would be like Yorishige in this story, don't you think so?

* I put a note on here, not to be involved into mud-slinging in the other thread.

The artistic team on this show are so tapped into the source material and are showing their love and understanding of it in a way that it feels not even the original source material is. It's kind of impressive. Making the most of an above average manga in a way that makes me realize maybe it's much better than the adaptations of manga I enjoy more!

When was the last time you've seen an anime production vibrating on the same frequency as the manga author's dream scenario?

This would be Demon Slayer for me. I remember picking up and reading it before S1 came out, and it was nothing exceptional. Ufotable knocked it out of the park though, and made something truly enjoyable out of it. I don't think I can recall any other time where a studio elevated the source material by that much. I haven't read the manga for this, but I assume it's the same with how they completely embrace the story with its dark comedic moments and utilize such stellar animation for moments that I genuinely find myself laughing at, but would likely cringe more at otherwise in the manga.

@Zxstu Not an isekai, it's based on a period of japanese history, Yorishige just claims some future sight. Probably based on the claim that the Kami of Suwa shrine and the lords of the Suwa were somewhat interlinked. No idea about a time skip.

Holy fucking SHIT Takauji is insane bro like this nigga is actually a scary ass antagonist man I’ve never seen something like this like all those ppl who sided with that emperor simply ran to Takauji’s aid like the emperor’s ppl didn’t just try to kill the guy and how strong is this dude!?!? Istg this show has supernatural powers bc that’s the only way I can how Takauji decapitated all those ppl in a blink of an eye😧😧😧🫨

The animation was fucking top tier during the Takauji moment where he entered Kyoto like that part was so well animated and the ppls smiling faces were so eerily creepy man like this episode was really a good watch man love Cloverworks for giving us this amazing showπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯😩

This is just a pet peeve of mine but I really hate those ppl who are only watching this show simply bc of the animation and hate on the story, it’s like why are you forcing yourself to watch a show you don’t enjoy?πŸ’€πŸ€¦πŸ½‍β™‚οΈπŸ’€

The direction in this episode was insane. Honestly might be the best directed episode yet of all anime this season. It would have been so easy to go the route of most average anime and just show the fights and the cat and mouse chase like a slideshow with no weight or emotion behind it. But they went all in to not just show us the moments but convey the emotions in the most creative ways possible. All I want is the show to continue to deliver on this creativeness.

I sincerely think that scene with Takauji is one of the all time best Main villain defining moments. The surreal imagery that devolves into a sea of identically swarms of faithful followers contrasting the bloodstained ground he stands on cleanly is incredible imagery.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I love the way Genba taunted those 2.
Good to see Sadamune won't be getting an imperial command anytime soon.

I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.

Goodness, they knocked it out of park when they were giving a glimpse of Takauji's charisma. Guy is made for that main villain title. Also shows the kind of passion the staff is pouring into this series.

Though hey, those last two minutes really did dial down the seriousness lol.

Damn, some heavy mass mind manipulation going on. Acting effortlessly whether it's slaughtering soldiers, dodging swords or being acclaimed by plebs. He's a sort of demon for sure. Wish there were more scenes like that one, but that's how it is: unhinged.

Ditto, although pug eyes x mouse face ain't such a sight. Unlike naked Takauji's visionary garden-of-eden eyecandy.

Personally didn't care for the episode. While the animation was nice in the fight, the new character is a bit annoying (I'm getting Black Star flashbacks), and the Sadamune tantrum had me cringing. The only thing I was enjoying was the infighting with the Prince and Takauji (who is the best character so far), and how he's slowly taking over the faction.
