Then we’ll have to wait a little longer. No problem for me, can’t wait for the next episode to see what new battles and adventures await the party. They must find all the Six Jewels to open the Source Spiral portal to defeat Kaiser!

nobody like Muse Asia or bilibili is going to stream this ep? 'somebody' last week was streaming a few episodes of other shows this Summer 2024 due to the 'Olympics Anime Blackout' ;> but i can't specifically remember which shows i watched online via one of 'those sites' that had bili's or Muse's watermark on it...

frankly, i think the legit pay-for-play anime streaming services would be STUPID to not offer 'preempted on TV/Satellite' anime episodes on the exact same schedule(s) as the previous episodes were on their service(s). i mean whom in Japan or around the world would NOT hand over the cash (even for JUST THIS Season alone) so they wouldn't miss their anime due to Paris? that is how alot of P4P hook some folks into their services, offer 'something better' than TV/Satellite services. sure, as soon as Paris kicked off anybody that wanted one of those 7- or 14-day free trials could try it to 'get around' the 'Olympics Anime Blackout'... but if the P4P folks are ALL following along with the herd of TV/Sat. normies... how does that benefit the P4P anime streamers?

of course, some folks aren't going to 'fork over the cash' after that free trial gets near its expiration date. but each of the P4P services KNOWS a certain percentage of the 'freebie surfers' will stick with the subscription fees and so forth.

example? a small number of anime have been running EARLY RELEASE streaming episodes upwards of 7 days before the scheduled TV/Sat. day-one-releases for about 3 Seasons now. those P4P then CONTINUED to run their future episodes on that same 'modified schedule' for the following weeks' worth of subsequent episodes. so 'somebody out there' can negotiate with the production companies/committees or somebody on the production side of the table had the idea that kicking the 'ALL anime MUST FOLLOW the TV/Sat. schedules in Japan!' normal way things go to the curb and doing what would be best for the P4P streaming business models.

so wouldn't P4P and/or Producers follow the logic easily? they're putting episodes out 'earlier' than the TV/Sat. folks do. because that is a good HOOK! to get folks to pay THEM instead of the TV/Sat folks. therefore, airing an episode that the TV/Sat. folks just don't have the slot for this week would be yet another GREAT HOOK! to reel in some fresh fish. ;>

and YES i already know Netflix has been doing this for a LONNNNNG time now with both anime and other content they pay for or contribute cash to the production side of the balance sheet. 'Netflix Jail' and 'Netflix Binge It All Right Now!' are ubiquitous ideas these days. :)

I suppose that the shows that were postponed are owned by the tv broadcasters, so what amount of negotiating would convince them to drain future views from their networks?

They would certainly ask for more than what they would lose on ad revenue for the lost viewers, and the streaming services' thinking must be that not enough people will subscribe just because of a 1 week postponement, so it wouldn't be cost effective.

Are each of their estimations contradictory? Yeah, but you always estimate for the worst case scenario. The tv broadcasters think they'll lose too many viewers, and the streaming services think they won't gain enough.

@IhnalakoKaina nope, i doubt the entirety of the shows which are being delayed are 'owned' by the broadcasters for TV. you would have to do a specific title by title check on MAL to see if they're listed in the producers' section. also, multiple channels do carry the same show in later timeslots in Japan. for example AT-X may show the episode at 10pm but MBS will show it at 11pm etc. so if a channel isn't showing Olympics coverage, wouldn't their slot be open for that week's episode of anime? i doubt every TV in Japan is blaring Olympics 24/7.

what do you mean future views? and what drain? they're making craptons off the Olympics. i hope. otherwise, they're paying huge rights fees to The International Olympics Committe for no reason.

yeah, no. they're not losing any money, except from anime fans who aren't also Olympics fans.

also, ad slots are bought in bulk. 1minute pieces. 30seconds pieces. 15seconds pieces are created by the companies hired by the products or services or whatever wants their 'thing' on TV. then the BLOCK of those pieces are sold to the networks to be distributed to 'this show' and 'that show' or 'this period of time during the day'. all dependent on how the contracts are negotiated. the networks then have a pie to cut. eventually the pie is all gone as each piece is 'devoured' over a period of time by the commercials airing.

as for the P4P platforms, you're also forgetting product placements, promotional items, commercials they themselves place in their shows, and 'bragging rights' over the traditional distribution systems. i know Crunchyroll has their Store. cross traffic for browsing for merch would increase in and around a show's streaming date and time (depending on the local timezone and Region locked content).

actually, i already mentioned the HOOK for 'freebie surfers' vs those who get reeled in. you must have missed that part.

to the best of my knowledge none of the EU or NA streamers have any 'free trial' longer than 14-days, and the standard is 7-days. Paris '24 is July 26-August 11, so 16 days. 2 days short for the longest 'freebie surfers' and 9 days short for the standard. so if any anime in Summer '24 will unfortunately be delayed twice? i don't know. theoretically if the show aired on Fridays (July 26th was a Friday) it could be delayed THREE weeks, since August 9th is a Friday.

i personally haven't read any announcements like that, but the very possibility it could happen? would mean the P4P streamers would be THREE episodes 'ahead' of their TV/Sat. competitors! DEFINITE crowing status, bragging rights, and it would certainly hook a few folks for at least a short-term commitment in subscription fees. even if it was just for one billing cycle.

your last sentence, contradicts itself. the TV/Sat. folks have projected their earnings and market-share by carrying Olympics coverage vs the same metrics as their work on the anime episode(s) that are being delayed. they already know, they're going to be making more money with Paris. otherwise, they wouldn't have paid in advance for the rights to that footage. since you seem unaware, unless a TV/Sat. content provider makes said content in-house, they're paying somebody else for the rights to air it. shopping a show around the block to everybody on the numberline from channel 1-1,000 is boilerplate standard and part of the shows' profit margin calculations. the more outlets a show appears on, the greater the chance somebody's eyeballs will be glued to it, and anything that reduces said outlet numbers... 'a preempted by XYZ-123 event'... LIKE A GOLF TOURNAMENT Spring 2024...
