Poor playwriter, but I do understand the authors side. Still feel bad for the playwriter getting all the blame. Was fun seeing that side of the story but it still kinda feels like a set up for the arc. I’ve heard it’s the best arc of the whole show but for me it still has to get good. It’s enjoyable of course but not amazing, and by comparison the first season had back to back really good episodes, with the latter episodes being not as incredible. Granted we’re only 2 of the 13 episodes in but still.

Interesting choice they made here to switch the introductions of the cast to the second episode. They also showed Abiko's outrage first before doing a flashback to their meeting the previous night. I guess the manga author, Akasaka-sensei, approved these changes lol. The irony.

I like the translation the scanslator did for this line better: "You have no talent as a writer!"
That sounds much better than what the official sub did by literally translating the loanword "sense" as sense in english. Oldpier the goat.

So much detail about theater that it convinced me this is theater arc (which is a good thing), I feel so bad for the scriptwriter, he do his best but the middle person mistranslated the communication, the mangaka should communicate with scriptwriter from the start smh.

Is the whole bit about the author/screenwriter adaptation issues plot relevant? It felt like until Akane (God she looks stunning here) invited Aqua out nothing much happened.

When did this episode even end?I thought we're halfway through when Akane invited Aqua to the theatre date. This pacing feels can feel weird when watching an anime but it really does inspire me to go back to reading some manga too.

The sudden change of mangaka Abiko Samejima to call forth the redo of the entire Tokyo Blade 2.5D stage play has everyone in shambles. But going back to the prelim stage where everyone is working together on the same project, bringing back Sweet Today's Melt, Kana, Aqua and Akane, alongside the multi-talented Taiki Himekawa. Of course, how can one talk about Aqua without talking about Akane, and that has Kana all jealous about their romantic development both on and off camera.

Aside from Abiko being a weirdo of an author, Lala Lai failing to read and assimilate the original source material, scriptwriter GOA is on the spotlight for that fault alone, which is quite typical of the media industry, AniManga included. And that causes a lot of rifts between authors, editors and producers, though it's her vision on the books, and it's people like GOA and producer Sumiaki who has to suffer the grunt when the media does not align with what was intended to be created, even if it has to deviate away from the original to fit within the confines of that medium. GOA is really pressured against a childish author who demanded his exclusion since he could not bring her vision to life, and I really feel for him.

With the rewrite of the script, Akane and Aqua have a bit of time on their hands, so why not a date to understand more about theater?

This Game of Telephone is quite the toxicity.

pretty good ep not gonna lie, been hearing that season 2 is not that good compared to season 1 but I like the second season, it dives deeper into smaller part of the industry and show us the struggle of people who are behind the screen making a theatre play, I felt pretty bad for the script writer he was working his ass off but still got dumped by the manga writer this shows how unfair and curl the industry is.....

And that is why I try to not go beyond da anime, cause even in animes they are either slightly changed or skip lots of content, just to make the 24 min deadline.

Behold of my awesomeness~

I can understand and relate with Abiko sensei to the extent of being an author. But her weird quirks are funny.

She wants to rewrite the entire script because she is disappointed, despite repeatedly asking for the changes to be made. She places all the blame on the playwright, but little does she know that he’s little to fault too. The middlemen were the ones who made it messy.

They’ve agreed to let her rewrite the entire script, and the rehearsals had to be put on hold.

Aqua literally has no interest in stage plays that he doesn’t even know the common terms within the industry. This is so funny 🤣.

looks like a lot of ppl hates Abiko but I love her for trying to protect her project, her childs, her behavior is far away from an adult/mature one, but I like it the way it is, straight to the point, with collateral damage, even hurting ppl unnecessary.
oc GOA is the victim of this story, he really did his best! He tried to respect sensei's POV and will.
You can find the culprit by looking for ppl who treats "clients" and dont give a damn about the story itself, only $$$$, prevent losses and business stuff, it is what it is.

The struggles of a scriptwriter. It was tough to watch seeing Goa being down like that. It isn't his fault that the communication between the author and him is such a mess. Poor guy. Even the author is being a bit too childish. There are only so many things you can do when you're on a tight schedule and budget. Even tho I understand the author's frustration, it's still not nice to make the scriptwriter look like he doesn't know how to do his job.

My rating is solely based on the fact that it wasn't as crazy as the first season intro was. Animation and style is still really great. Second season feels slower.

All of this can be resolved if Abiko just consulted the scriptwriter rather than go on a whole telephone game with her editor. But this is the Japanese we're talking about, they sure love their overly complicated diplomacy steps

Abiko is a great take on the anti-social artist archetype. Talented, but tolerated only for that. That rotten personality without the raw ability would be met with isolation otherwise, and she doesn't even appreciate that fact.

Abiko is really passionate about her story! Even all adaptations must live up to its full potential, No weakening the plot for a shorter run time allowed! I respect it, but I can also see how this would be an issue in a play adaptation.

Like how it manages to feel like so much is put into a standard length episode. The timeline of everything may seem a bit weird, but it does feel better in the setup of things. Have the characters we know, bring in Akibo and have her throw a spanner at production, rewind and introduce her and the other new characters.

I doubt companies bend over for the author like this in reality due to the mentioned costs, and this has been done for the drama and to highlight the many roles. Considering all the revisions, they should've done a direct meeting much sooner. Too many people cutting out/down the requests meant GAO was working with likely less than half of what was being asked. After all that dedication, Akibo (who seemed to have no idea of the game of Chinese whispers that were going on each time) just comes in and completely tears him down. While feeling your work is tarnished and requests being ignored is obviously frustrating...you've got to know who/what is actually to blame before going after the wrong person. I expect GAO is going to have quite the creative slump after this and even question whether he wants to stay in the industry. All because of someone lacking social skills made a poor choice of words (this'll affect her future work too as no-one will want to adapt her work in future like this).

Wonder what Aqua's going to learn from his date with Akane?
