| I picked up the Dark Horse omnibus many moons ago, got through a third of it and put it down because the writing/dialogue/translation was not very good. Like, mispelled words, grammar errors, and stilted phrasing to the point it came off like a fan scanlation rather than an official printed translation from a major publisher. I picked it up again today to give it another chance and am noticing the same thing, including more than one point where it reads like there was a pun in the original dialogue and the translator couldn't be arsed to figure out a good English equivalent so it ends up with a weird literal phrase that doesn't make sense. Has anyone else noticed this? Is the original Japanese also bad and the translator just made do with what they could? I saw another forum post saying the translation is GOOD and I'm confused; is there a different "official" translation that's better? |
