The realistic interactions between one another, the quietness, the chillness, the mundaneness. I need more anime like this if you have any?

Personally I had this feeling with the second part of Yumemiru danshi wa genjitsu shugisha but I think it wasn't that well received.

It's not bad. I personally like it though it had a flaw in today's ep. I also like the animation too.

All due respect, my thoughts on the show are contrary …

A friend explained that it would be a new experience for them to be interacting with each other and they’re trying to be mature and make the best of it.

Aside form that …

So far, their interaction has been in mind, kinda awkward and creepy.

Both are devoid of that youthful light, acting like they have given up on life and are just going through the motions.

And how similar do these two really need to be, their characters, thoughts, feelings, words, reactions, opinions, jokes, goals, etc, that’s strange to me.

Then her trying to get him to be with her for money, it seemed completely forced and out of character.

She doesn’t really have feelings for him, at least that not how it seems. It would make things even more awkward, if it wasn’t for his patience and mature attitude.

I started it, so I’ll completely it, but I am not enjoying the episodes and it is difficult to watch.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Super cub is a basically what I compare the vibe of this show to. It’s incredible chill and not over the top in any way.

And I’d say it’s decently realistic.

@DragyG Thanks for saying as much, I appreciate it.

However, I don't do the 3 & Done or drop shows once I start them, I finish them to the end.

In my experience of watching anime, I have learned that there are shows that seem to be good at the beginning but end up being bad, then there are shows that seem to be bad at the beginning but end up being good.

So I watch all the episodes and then judge the anime properly on the full story it presents.

Which means I will continue till the end.

Well there sure are animes like that but in the case of adaptations from LN 3 episodes is basically the first volume. So if the author couldn't appeal to you with 300 pages there is low chances it's gonna happen with what follows.

Even though yes some animes ask a bit of sacrifice at the beginning to set the stakes.

That is helpful information and a really good point. Thanks for explaining that, it definitely does change the perspective.

But in all honesty, it is a weird quirk I have, if I start something I need to finish it, with books, movies, shows, games, etc.

Please don’t hold it against me 😅

I’d say Just Because! It’s pretty chill and feels very real, kinda captures the same feeling that’s hard to put into words

Liz and the Blue Bird, maybe?

I wouldn't call it chill and mundane, but it has a very quiet and sensitive vibe. An extreme close-up look at the relationship between two characters (FYI two girls; somewhat-romantic undertones, depending on who you ask). It does a lot with subtle facial expressions and body language, plus sparse dialogue with a lot of things unsaid.

@ejleon Light Novel Reader here. Your decision to stuck to the end is right. This started as slow but picked the pace later on. I get you are not feeling characters motivation right now, don't worry you'll understand them as the anime progress.

@D3E Hello, thanks for the encouragement and info, that helps me a lot to look forward to the rest of the show.

Hyouka is very mellow and realistic, not a ton of romance but it’s good though.

@TokeiSenpai I haven't seen Hyouka, but Shoushimin, together with Days with My Stepsister, are my favourites this season. For some who watched Hyouka, Shoushimin has the same vibe.

Thanks, I was planning to check out shoushimin eventually, but now that I know it's similar to Hyouka, I HAVE to watch it now.

@AnimeTheOVA Ooops. I forgot to mention that both share the same writer. Both are based on mystery novels written in the 2000s.

Yeah, I plan to check out Hyouka pretty soon.

I am reading its light novel and currently on volume 10. The pace is quite slow in the beginning but the maturity and development of both characters will pace up quite a bit after the next upcoming three episodes which I suppose will cover the volume 2.

Though I feel comforted with the silence and awkwardness between their interactions. The art direction is superior in terms even though the art isn't that great. It actually feels that a lot of emotion and thought process has been going on in both the characters.

As for the side characters, they will be directing the story and actions of the both.

If you can watch it completely then I can assure you that you will like it in the end. Maybe not as much as some others but you will feel delighted by the character development and the whole feel of it.
