1. I don't think this is a good place to start, watch the original anime or read the manga first, I would reccomend the anime cause of the soundtrack and voice acting, but you can read the manga too

2. Where can I watch the episode 0

3. There is a different entry for episode 0 on Mal, prolly should post the discussion there

It gets the point across kind of, but also kinda insinuates the viewer should go seek out the manga. At the very least you now know the major players and the point in time the show is at.

I'm wondering if this thread should belong to https://myanimelist.net/anime/59162/Kinnikuman__Kanpeki_Ch%D0%BEujin_Shiso-hen_Episode_0

Anyway, a supernatural pro-wrestling anime where death is reversible? Count me in!

Interesting how the composer Yasuharu Takanashi creates soundtrack for both this anime and Tiger Mask W (which is a sequel/re-adaptation of Tiger Mask).

Unlike Tiger Mask W which partially acknowledge Kayfabe, Kinnikuman take the advantage of being sci-fi/fantasy anime so it can claim that it's all real, not staged.

I feel like I'm jumping on this at a really weird point as the only exposure I've had to Kinnikuman is my 'Ultimate Muscle' obsession as a kid. Thankfully I've already looked up a lot about the original series before this because I wanted to know where all the returning characters came from in 'UM'.

Definitely feel like this will be a weird jump on point for people with no history with the series, but I'm probably gonna stick with it personally.

also; the kid in me really appreciated the insinuation towards Kid Muscle at the end.

Is this not a remake? Is it just starting at a random point in the middle?

and Terry the Kid! I also loved UM as a kid and vaguely know kinnikuman details. I'm gonna watch this and maybe get inspired to go back and read the earlier arcs in detail

it's adapting a manga arc that never got animated since the manga continued after the show ended

Honestly it was a little frustrating watching the AX premiere. I had NO idea it was a digest cut down version and Episode 0's function of being a recap to the original series was severely crippled for a new audience seeing this all for the first time. I wonder if that's why the rating is so low at this point of writing.

That said, the completed version on Netflix is an amazing improvement. Easier to follow even if the proper pronouns can still be a lot and the lore is dense. But the main cast reminiscing on the past definitely hit home for me and my relationship with the series. I have my few nitpicks like why didn't we get to see Suguru's wedding but I cant wait for this arc to finally be animated!

Not bad at all. This seems to serve as a recap of previous events and a set up for future events. It's silly and goofy. It's not great, and I probably won't watch much more based on this, but I didn't hate it!

Interesting and quick recap of more of 100 episodes!!
Nice to do memory!
I don´t like the new "Musculman" voice style, He lacks that strident and childish touch, I suppose he has grown up with so many fights.

It was a decent recap, but wow, they really brushed over the Scramble for the Throne arc.

a great start, I really feel like I'll like Kinnikuman, will have to watch the other series eventually! This is my entry point for the series! Hopefully it's okay starting here and going back. The amount they'd put into/behind this anime, I'd be surprised if it wasn't done in a way it can be a decent entry point for the series, hence this recap!

I'm also starting here, and feel like it must be fine starting here, as they must know a large amount of the people watching this won't have seen the older series. Hence this recap ep, I'll go back and watch the others after like I did with Baki.

Ofc there will be people saying it's not a good place to start, but interested to hear why they might think so, it was definitely made in the context of knowing that it would be a lot of people's entry points. It's not realistic to expect people to go back and watch hundreds of eps before starting this, if this anime was targeting just those few madlads who would actually do that, and whatever OG fans they can recapture...it would fail. They're definitely trying to reach a new mainstream audience too.

Great for fans, confusing for beginners.
I don't think anyone who starts with this has understood who Brocken, Wolfman and especially Geronimo are, what is with Ataru and who the evil god is (the other four were not mentioned) etc.
On the one hand, this recap was more close to the manga than the old anime, such as Kinnikuman wearing different clothes, Bibimba existing, and even the Tag Team Match in America. But then Nachigorun came up for a moment. Must be fanserivce for his two fans.

It's a shame that the anime hasn't been completely rebooted and we can see the old arcs in modern animation and without the unfunny commentators.

Animation looks amazing. Great recap for new viewers. If it's anything like the manga, it'll be great!!!

This is the right way to do a recap. I didn't know anything about Kinnikuman before but now I feel like I got the basics at least and I'm motivated to get into it. I'll probably watch Perfect Origin first and then go back to the original anime or manga.
