Speaking generally and not only about this series, Manga are easier for people who doesn't like or aren't used to read a lot, because it's a media that mostly rely on visuals. If the Author is good, you can even gets the story and the intentions solely with the drawings. However, due to being wall of texts, Novels have more rooms to add details, be it to the description of the scenes (both the visuals and feelings of characters), or the dialogues, without letting the reader feeling that it's slow. That's why, in the vast majority of the cases, Novels are way better than their adaptations.

So i'd say that if you really like the series, or just want to see if you can handle it, give a try to the Light Novel. If it doesn't correspond you, you can always go for the Manga later on.

I checked out the first chapter of the manga, while the art is really nice, i absolutely despise how they did the sequence where tanya gets ambushed in her first patrol deployment.

Just made me realize how well the anime is directed and the dialogue is actually really well written in it even though its "less detailed"

Also the first ep of anime starts in rhine which is a really smart thing to do

And omfg the voice actors are insanely good too (jp and german, idk english va)
I just really like the anime of youjo senki

@Kitsune_089 as both a manga and LN reader, i'd say you're missing out on the manga since it only gets better from there. i'd recommend you check it out cuz it's one of the good manga adaptations.

dunno, hearing from people who didn't read either seems careless to me but if like reading sans visuals then i definitely recommend LN.
