I don't know who this was made for.
Kakegurui fans won't watch this.
The 10 people who watch live action only watch either very relevant or popular series which at this time Kakegurui isn't either.
Casual Netflix viewers aren't interested.
Those who wanted a live action Kakegurui already have two Japanese installments.
I know the whole point of the show is gambling with high stakes but these producers and executives weren't supposed to do that in real life with this.
The only reason this was probably made was just because they had the license.
I'm not even laughing I just feel numb. You expect me to be shocked if this ever gets completed they'll announce season 2 has been canceled.

I am still saving to watch the spin off until season 3 is announced and it looks like I’m still saving to watch it another day.

Netflix did a netflix thing. Competing with ubisoft for 'pissing off franchise fans with that shit' award.

I wish Netflix instead used this budget for a season 3 of the anime...

I think we can already do "Netflix adaptation" bingo with this one. I bet that the yuri subtext in this will be much more rude and clumsy than in the original work, while Suzui will either become an even more background character, or, on the contrary, turn into a self insert. I'll be more than surprised if they don't play with the ships or relationship dynamics in this one.

@Jcmixer27 I'm already used to such "adaptations", but I'm a little worried that Netflix's traditional approach to adaptations and the obvious transfer of the story to a Western setting will clearly not end well for us. There's too much chance of this ending as another Death Note, if you know what I mean.

Couldn't agree more this American adaptation will just be atrocious.

this is why I hate Netflix, they take forever to release new seasons and sometimes just never do it. look at isekai ojisan no announcements or even plans to make a season two. I'm also worried about dungeon meshi it hasn't even finished yet and it's extremely popular but that doesn't matter Netflix might just forget about it and never make a second season.

why is there a dude on the cover of the announcement? The male main character in Kakegurui is like the least important character in the whole show lmao

Just checked the full list and there's somehow three men on the main cast list😭 That's actually hilarious, they're probably making it more CW-y (or like Wednesday) to lock in the tiktok girl conglomerate audience lol

that's one of the downside of the Netflix one piece live action show being successful that means we will be getting more western live action animes which we anime fans don't want at all!

Wait since house-pets in the series are meant to be slaves and this is made for American audiences didn't they pick the wrong series to race swap in?

I honestly don't know what to say, this is not going to work, why do they keep doing this? Because the One Piece live action worked? That was approved by the mangaka and it was a very decent work but this? This looks like it's already dead and isn't even out.

@Biisoo It's up to the producers if Kakegurai gets another season, not Netflix. Netflix hasn't been investing in anime since 2022 because it doesn't make them enough money.

Netflix keeps releasing anime tho.

@animegamer245 Netflix has the exclusive rights to the property right now. Also they were the reason the spinoff manga got a 6 episode ova. Also can't blame them for not funding anime unfortunately as Crunchyroll has become a monopoly in the industry as law makers overseeing the mergers just classified anime as regular television and nothing else.

literally. and a major reason why i don’t really like the live-action versions is that there’s just always something missing compared to the actual anime. be it sound effects, fancy movements or whatever. facial expressions etc. animation just has way more freedom when it comes to adding all the elements that make it as interesting as it is.

I liked Kakegurui alot but surprisingly I ended of liking the spin off even more. which is wild since I wasn't fond of mary satome in the least after watching season 1 and 2, but now I rather see more Kakegurui twin with Mary then I do the original with yumeko. I don't think I understand waiting for a season 3 though before watch a prequel to it all. yumeko hasn't even enrolled un Kakegurui twin

It’s simply because I’ll have nothing else to watch from that series left and it’s kinda like something I usually due for certain animes but after reading your reply I think I’ll probably watch it sometime soon

I don't like live actions so much. Because usually the actors doesn't seem like the original characters.
