As expected Shadow and his girls were able to solve the situation. I forgot that Beta and Epsilon were around all along, to it made sense for them to appear. The "Atomic" was quite short this time though.

Another great season of Eminence in Shadow, Cid and the seven Shades are always really entertaining to watch. Though I did not like the end of the last episode, I have a feeling that I won't enjoy the movie as much. 9/10

The ending makes not much sense from author perspective.. why and what for he would have to return to his world and with powers he gained in previous world?

I think I might miss the girls more than we will ;o so next is a movie?
I wonder how far is the original, is it light novel? game ? manga?

anyway the first season was way better than this season..
there was also too little of Alexia
and that pink haired girl Barnett Sherry that her father was killed by shadow she should have some role in here after what she said in first season ending..

still it was great to watch this anime and I'd like to see more of the story, but now that ending.. it stopped making sense.. just some mumbo jumbo put together like generic isekais...

Original is LN, but there is a manga too. If talking how far, I think there are 6 volumes released. The ending of this season is around middle of vol 4, and the movie will likely finish covering vol 4.

I had dropped the LN after the third volume (which the first two thirds of this series covers) due to some dissatisfaction with how Shadow was treating his followers somewhat like ignorant children when he himself was just mindlessly playing a game.

Decided to watch this hoping it had improved on things a bit like the first season did... and it slightly does in one key respect: It tones down how desperate for money Shadow was. That was a sticking point since earlier in the series the girls offer him as much money as he wanted, so there was no need for him to destroy their business to acquire it.

That's really the only positive since both this and the source ended up having the same issue of the vampire arc being much too rushed. Still, it got me to go and pick up the fourth volume, so I suppose it did its job well enough.

EDIT:

So, having read the first half of LN #4 now, I can say that this adaptation of the wedding arc is FAR superior to the source. Looks like my first instinct was correct and it will be best in the end to watch the Anime exclusively.
@Offkorn
Yeah I think the anime version is a great example of good adaptation. For me, everything in the anime felt better than when I read the LN.

Okay what the heck, I thought Kagenou would have a hard time defeating that interdimensional celestial beast but nevermind, he did defeated it with ease. He's just a god at this point. Anyways did they go back to planet earth? And it looks like the planet collided with another world. Looks like the Cult of Diablo or whatever their name was right

Yes. It seems you forgot the "heroes" of the past (and the cult) were all made from the blood of Aurora(?) and Kagenou even shocked her in Season 1 when he went ALL-RANGE ATOMIC. Adding that the world was either created by him (or based on his own notes), and his ATOMIC being the "peak existence (ALMIGHTY)" referenced by said notes (and his imagination), it was already decided that nothing can oppose him.
Further adding to the notes part, the antagonist talked about the cult knowing about the other worlds which should be connected to said notes, and that means nothing from Otherworld, Earth, or any relevant world within the notes apart from the light ball at the center of the diagram should be able to oppose him (unless the light ball is the Otherworld where Kagenou was reborn).
Of course, if there's something brand spanking new in the worlds like a "System-sponsered" person, things could change.

They're talking about different realms, probably talking about Earth, then something in the middle and that everything revolves around it, obviously talking about the Sun, and the clashes of these realms where they start affecting each other is no doubt an eclipse. But wtf was that? Cid came back to Earth and he brought his ridiculous powers with him. I'm guessing when he was taken from Earth to the other realm, Earth in return also got affected and as we see it's current state, it's pretty destructive.

If only this story started in the earlier episodes.

I like that the main idea of the anime hasn't changed since the second episode of the first season. Every cool shit Cid said and did became comedy itself just by making him an insufferable ""protagonist"" that couldn't get out of his 8th grade syndrome phase. 'Indifferent' characters like Cid tend to have some sorts of protagonist materials like doing supposedly random things while having miraculously predicted the plot; doing ethically questionable things while still having a morally just principle; or understanding a select of characters accurately and being empathetic to them. Meanwhile, the writer of Kage no Jitsuryokusha really had no intention of giving him any redeeming quality that would make him the 'hero' of the story, which is actually a very good thing (and pretty much what Cid would've wanted).

Really had a great time, I think I had more laughs in this season than the previous. Ending it with a huge cliffhanger is very unfair.

Basically same as the first season when it's good it's really good. When it's slow and boring it was exactly that plus some. At least it was less of his background character act cause that was tiresome after a couple eps. Still can't remember most of the girls names since there's so many but the dog one was my fave.

BUT if what cult says has value with all the multi dimensions and epicenter of a god or something. I'm guessing it's shadow cause straight from the get go I was like this guy has reality warping powers or is just plain omnipotent

YO WHAT WAS THIS INSANE 10/10 ENDING?????????? I cannot believe things have come full circle and Cid is back in his old world!!! Not to mention how satisfying it is that they recreated the kidnapping from the beginning of season one again!! Even one of the kidnappers from back then was involved again!!! Mirroring the first episode like this is so unbelievably peak, I just can't!!!!

But it's crazy to see how much the world has been destroyed after Cid got reincarnated... it's a hard pill to swallow. But I'm just so excited that he has returned!! I really hope Akane realizes who he actually is and that he at least recognizes her!! I pray that he understands that he is back in his old world now!! I couldn't take it for him to misunderstand this entire situation!! 😭😭 Also I wonder how and if the memebers of Shadow Garden will follow Cid to his old world? Cannot wait for the movie to answer all these questions!!

Cid got teleported back to his homeworld and it seems that based on the xplanation given by Mordered, the reason Cid was Isekai'd was because their 2 worlds had clashed into each other and this also caused magic to rush into the normal earth as well. No there's bad guy running around with magic and the girl he saved previously in the 1st episode is the "Savior" of the people it seems. I wonder how long he's gonna be in this world and why the fuck we ended on this massive cliffhanger?!!!

This is one of the only shows where things happen "accidentally" and the MC is "ignorant" that I will watch. I'm really not a fan of characters not realizing what is going on around them, but somehow this show makes it work. It does get silly at times like when he is monologuing and someone just happens to be talking to him and it lines up for a misunderstanding, but it is infrequent enough to be funny. Hopefully the next season's quality is just as good as the first two.

Wow. Talk about full circle.

Very curious how they are gonna take this into a new season. It is gonna have to be a 24, because splitting between two worlds/dimensions and telling a full story is gonna feel really rushed in a 12.

The Season finale battle wasn't as intense or satisfying as S1, but boy did Shadow really show who's boss. HOWEVER, That Solar-system wide I'M ATOMIC was fucking epic!

The exposition by Modred is a massive steaming pile of lore being dumped in one go. Not often do we get an isekai story where the original world is still part of the story? It seems the black rose isn't just some soft of superweapon artifact as one originally thought it is,. but is instead an artificial portal, a sort of gateway between different worlds or realms as it's called by them.

So just like Modred's explanation, it's possible for things to cross between realms, this includes the presence of magic which happened 10 million years ago in this isekai world, but the same thing happened to Cid's original world in the present day. That's why Tokyo looks like it was massively wrecked and how Akane could use a magical baton now.

That brings us to Cid as Shadow, now returned to their world after being reincarnated in another world. Considering that Akane is around 20 years old, it seems that time moves x10 as quickly in the isekai world as Cid aged from a baby to a high schooler within several years in his original world.

Now then...
Can I just say how ASS this story is?
Unlike the countless plebians across multiple different platforms and countless forum threads confused as to what has happened to Japan when Modred already clearly insinuated the reason for its destruction, I need not ask such a foolish question besides expressing my vehement distaste for many things that stand to exist in the story of "The Eminence in Shadow". I must admit that time and time again I find myself enjoying certain aspect of this show for its entertaining premise before quickly being brought out of my immersion for the sheer stupidity that Cid does or the utterly random bullshittery that the show imposes on the audience. There is no depth to the characters, and no meaning to the backstories that were supposed to develop said character(s).

In all senses of reason, this show, "The Eminence in Shadow" is a parody of all the story that involves an almighty supreme leader with a devoted army of clandestine agents loyally doing the master's bidding. Considering how the Light Novel came out essentially at the peak of the isekai genre back in 2018, it's clear that this whole story is targeted to appease the general fanbase for all the shonen junkies who desire an edgy, overpowered MC with a ton of obliviousness for comedy and plenty of fanservice to ensure that the atmosphere is never so dark it gets labelled as a seinen. No wonder why so many kids like this show. The author, Daisuke Aizawa, is clever for taking advantage of you all.
