What happened in ep-3..... I don't understand

At the end of episode three

Instantly after that scene, we are taken to the stupid school arc...
Now, did the events in ep-3 happen before the school arc or will they take place after this arc??
If the scenes from ep-3 haven't yet happened then why wasn't the white haired chick with hibiki when they encountered that demon in the forest when mio encountered them....

He lost his fingers in season one after fighting Sofia and Mitsurugi. That scene when they were crying was the aftermath of the fight that we never saw in season one.

Ya the scene you are talking about was a flashback to when he fought those 2 people at the end of season 1, but this time around it was showing both Tomoe and Mio’s reaction to finding him injured

You would understand if you remembered what happened in season 1 and made the connection.

It actually happens in the last episode of the last season (after he passed out and before he woke up between them) , they just kept it hidden until now.
