So the story behind the fateful first encounter between Garai and Yuki has been revealed!

It was interesting to see how the incident damaged both Yuki and Garai and shaped their future paths in such different ways:

Back then Garai was a teenage delinquent and the gruesome MW incident traumatized him enough to seek oblivion and forgiveness through the path of religion.
I also suspect a form of survivor's guilt since it was only by accident that solely the two of them survived. This must've weighed down on him even further since there was no media coverage and the government destroyed all evidence for the disaster taking place. By having everything happen so suddenly, it is even more shocking.
Also interesting to see that Garai in fact was the one who indirectly initiated the later physical relationship between the two, seeing as he openly expressed his sexual interest.

Yuki on the other hand was a seemingly innocent and normal grade schooler. According to the flashback Yuki must be around 24 years old now and the good looking actor whom he is said to resemble, Tamanojo Kawamoto is his older brother.

Garai blames the sudden shift in personality with the supposed lack of morality and decency on the effects of the MW although I personally could see those just being a result from the psychological damage he received...

His interest and " dependence" on Garai seem to stem from the way that Garai "saved" him after his collapse.
The way that he exploits Garai's feeling of responsibility for him (seeing as Garai associates staying in contact with Yuki as an attempt to atone for his sins) could be just another proof for the lack of morality. On the other hand, I can see Yuki being somewhat emotionally dependant on Garai since he is the only other person who was there and experienced the same horrors as him.
Since no one else would believe him or could understand the severity of this tragic experience, Garai really is someone he needs.

(And Garai was the one who witnessed his change, so that feeling of being fated to be side by side might actually be reciprocated by Yuki)

I was kinda surprised that the bishop didn't react differently and he wasn't as shocked as I had expected him to be after listening to that confession. I wonder if he knows Yuki?

I would've expected the flashback to be revealed only piece for piece time after time to deepen the emotional impact and further stress the strong influence it had on Yuki and Garai but revealing everything in a go makes sense, too.
A strange comparison maybe but it resembles the structure of Berserk's manga:
After introducing the characters in their current changed state, to immediately go back and retell the past, just to arrive in the present again and contrast their old selves with the current ones makes sense.

Artistically the horrifying memories of that island engraved in Garai's mind were portrayed really well and I loved that one page spread that showed the dead villagers from above. The visualization of Gehenna was also done really well.

I'm looking forward to the next few chapters as well!

Wait, if all they did was watch the effects of the gas and just skidaddle outta there, how did he know the agent was named MW? And they did actually mention the US at the beginning, but the whole rest they use the obvious reference to it by nation x?
Aagh, honestly I'm not a fan of Japanese authors criticizing the US for how hypocritical and ungrateful it seems to me, I'll just focus on what the rest the series has to offer.
