Not bad. I enjoyed it. Some characters I didn't really like half of their screentime like Mayaya or Bamba when she was being all stern and lecture-y or selfish about asking for meat -.- Hated it whenever they were all screaming, ew. Including Tsukimi when she was in her jellyfish nerd mode making dresses.

It really bothered me when she started cutting up Kuranosuke's pink dress-- like. She was SO fucking insensitive, it was painful. At this point in time, she does not deserve Kuranosuke and everything he does for her and Amamizu-kan.

The rest of it was enjoyable. Ending seemed like it was thrown together a little abrupt. The rest of the anime was nice.

Hmmm. Well, it wasn't a bad ending, but it kinda just felt like "problem instantly solved!" instead of a good solid conclusion. I don't really feel like there necessarily needs to be a whole 2nd season (although I wouldn't object!), but I'd like to see some sort of epilogue special to see what happens to everyone. Overall, absolutely loved the series, lived up perfectly to the noitaminA name. 9/10

i partly agree with this. i actually hated the ending :/. the fashion show/beauty pageant portion was a good way to wrap up Tsukimi's growth and development plot, but it didnt finish up the plot about the landsharks at all. i guess they figured that they ran out of time and couldnt fit in the launch of the clothes line?

idk i just felt like it was scrapped together with really no thought. it was just something to appease the audience because they usually hate cliff hanger endings. it just felt kinda lazy

i felt nearly the exact same. Jiji and Banba got like no air time, which was sad because i thought that the different character personalities worked together, even when they were all screaming and being kinda obnoxious. they also totally left us hanging with Kuranosuke's dad, who seemed to really have some potential and could have really complicated the plot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well i guess

as for Kuranosuke's dress, i kinda feel the same. she should have asked but at the same time i dont think Kuranosuke would have objected. i think he would have had the same reasoning for that as he did for the use of the pearls. he definitely was a big help but to counter your point about Tsukimi not deserving Kuranosuke, i dont really think she did anything that out of line besides the pearls and the dress. Kuranosuke definitely took on the burden of helping Amamizu-kan willingly so theres definitely some motivation on his part to continue to be as helpful. and its not like Tsukimi wasnt grateful; she had her moments though which is why i can see your point.

if anything, the other girls would be ungrateful as they just took from him, and at points expected things from him

Though the ending was quick it's not a terrible ending imo. It propels Tsukimi to go forth with a purpose but it's not her end goal, her end goal will be to do something she loves.

Glad I stuck it out with this baby and knew I'd one day love it. It's such a comedic wonder pot that I was not expecting with characters to love at all stages who aren't just the mains. And the truth of the matter is this show is stunning to look at. BB did an excellent job with the expressions especially. Love it love it love it.

9/10

To the manga I guess since this never got anymore seasons unfortunately.

Ah man, why isn't there another season, I love this series.

The cool premise and quirky cast had me already sold, especially Tsukimi. I enjoyed everything, from her hilarious behaviour(olé) to the emotional flashbacks and growth as a character.

8,5/10 one of the funniest anime I've seen lately. Now I'm interested to see how the manga will compare, looking forward to see some proper closure.

And 5/5 for Chiekos mom

The ending was a happy one but it felt a little lacking and unresolved. A lot of the storylines definitely could've been ended better like how Inari and Shuu's interactions concluded, how Amamizu-kan suddenly escapes redevelopment, and the potential romantic relationships Tsukimi could've had with one of the brothers. It would've been great if Kura had managed to meet with his mom.

After Shuu gave Inari a really well-deserved bitch slap because of how much she worried him, the freak suddenly developed a crush on him and they both fly away abroad. That was rather anticlimactic and it didn't really resolve the fact that she spiked his drink before.

It's great that Tsukimi found her passion in making absolutely gorgeous jellyfish-inspired dresses in the memory of her mother by cutting up and transforming Lina's dresses with Kuranosuke giving the supportive push she needed and at the same time, reminiscing the fun he had with his mom. A bright future as fashion designers finally stands before the two and them winning that pageant is only the beginning.

This show was great. Really one of the good old ones, where characterization really meant something and not just one of a handfull of clichés and tropes. It also had a very nice romantic touch without getting too much into the forsaken route of girl meets boy, which was also nice. And they knew how to make "ugly" characters.

Overall a 9/10

I watched this because I was shipping Tsukimi and Shuu but Shuu felt into that stupid love trap. That ruined the whole show for me. I hate that kind of plot where the manipulated witch get the guy.

Quite lackluster final episode. The pacing felt too rushed and in the end, the whole "let's save Amamizu-kan" plot was solved in the blink of an eye with Chieko's mother simply saying she won't sell it. Absolutely anticlimactic.

Overall, this series ended up being a bit of a disappointment to me. First few episodes were promising but it all went downhill the moment the Tsukimi/Shuu/Kuranosuke love triangle was hinted and the addition of Shouko's character as well as the whole "blackmail" sub-plot just made everything worse. And don't make me start with that awful insinuation of having Shuu developing feelings for the woman who drugged him and constantly makes him believe he was raped...

Leaving that aside, I also had the impression the anime never had a clear path to follow with so many plot-points being hinted here and there but never being fully addressed nor developed. In the end, they decided to have "Amamizu-kan demolition" as the main plot-line after some episodes of awkward romantic insinuations but honestly, seeing Kuranosuke coming up with such ridiculous ideas to save the apartment complex felt totally unnatural and unrealistic. Not to mention also that the connection between those ideas and the whole "Jellyfish" concept couldn't have felt more forced.

4/10 - To be fair, the Amars had certain charm and Tsukimi, despite having little-to-no character development, was adorable in her own way. Watching this series never felt like a chore either but I was expecting something different when I first read the synopsis.

excuse me, how the fuck can you mess up such a well started plot?!

What was the point of all the romance with Shuu? It started like a sweat love story. And then they add that whore of a woman, and you wait till that arc is over... And it's never over! They stay together! They fuck is that development! Why would the focus so much on how he is in love with Tsukimi, how she can't stop thinking about him for half of the story just to fuck it up so badly!

What was that Yoshio x Kuranosuke bait? Why do you need to make Yoshio show some interest in him if that was never an option!

And the Kuranosuke x Tsukimi stuff was such bullshit. They started as just friends and no chemistry at all. Why force their relationship.

what was the point of Kuranosuke's crossdressing if it was never addressed or used in the plot? He was just an ordinary straight dude who would do that all the time. That doesn't happen in real life. You have to address it. He has to be at least bi. It just was there to have a visual, but never a meaning.

The jellyfish dress was just a regular short wedding dress with some hanging pearls.

And it's sad that all those hikkikomori girls never grew up at all. They were just an annoying bunch from the start till the end.

Kuragehime's really cute. I watched the show without reading the summary and I thought the show was a romance fantasy based from the title and poster but I was pretty surprised that it was actually a slice of life anime.

The show needed more episodes. It was really a shame that the it didn't resolve any of the conflicts established a couple episodes beforehand. I wanted Kuragahime to explore the characters more but I guess I'll see that in the manga. But I gotta say I'll miss the OP plus the voice acting of Kana Hanazawa and the prime minister.

Yeah... the series was good but this was too rushed and I really don't like the Inari/Shu pairing.

It's shu-horned into the story and not very long after she drugged him, dragged him off to her place, took off his clothes whilst he was unconscious - that always creeps me out (only time I can give it a pass is if the character being undressed is ill or injured and in wet or dirty clothes... certainly not if the character undressing them has drugged them...) - and then framed him as the type who would sleep with someone he'd just met then took photos of him to use for blackmail. There is nothing /cute/ about her getting a crush on him, and especially not after he just slapped her. The two are... beyond dysfunctional.

Well, at least those other problems got resolved... but it still didn't feel satisfying.

I do like Kuranosuke and I'm glad that Tsukimi seems to have finally found something to do... but this is still a bit rushed.

Straight men can cross-dress too. The idea that all cross-dressers have to be attracted to the same sex too is just a stereotype. And sometimes there isn't a hidden meaning - he just likes and feels comfortable doing it. You gonna tell me Scots wear kilts for fancy occasions because they're all secretly bi too? Or that girls dress in boy clothing sometimes because they're inherently gay/bi? Do tomboys not exist? Flip it over and you've got the cross dressing guy.

If you want a meaning behind his cross-dressing, maybe here's one: He's cross-dressing to feel closer to his mother because she loved pretty dresses too. Seems like the most obvious meaning behind his cross-dressing if you ask me.

I agree the plot was rushed, and characters and possible relationships were underexplored, underused and sidelined in a pretty terrible manner, but a) the woman isn't so much a whore as a manipulative b-tch...

But not everyone in every show has to be gay/bi just because you want it to be.

I've never seen a straight guy dressing up in feminine clothing as a hobby or regularly. Even gay "crossdressers" just do it for a show as a character.

Scottish traditional wear is masculine.

tomboys are not straight guys. Females were always more accepted as homosexuals or wearing masculine clothing.

The idea that it "is" masculine is outdated. Also, kits are worn by women too, so clearly it isn't. And they are skirts... and skirts are deemed by society as feminine.

Tomboys are girls that often dress in more masculine outfits - the point I was trying to make is that people will dress the way they find most comfortable and like the best, including girls dressing in clothes typically viewed as boys closed.

And the acceptance doesn't matter here - what matters is that cross-dressing doesn't inherently make a person gay.

I can't remember the last time I watched an anime so badly squander the potential it very clearly had. The first three episodes of this show were great and really built up Tsukimi and Kuranosuke well, but then it just got worse and worse and worse. From continued repetition of unfunny running gags, overuse of the entirely unlikeable Sisterhood, to shifting the focus away from Kuranosuke and Tsukimi's relationship (by far and away the best part of the show) to instead focus on a "save the dorm" plotline and to place more and more focus on the dodgy, poorly-developed blackmail subplot that was not only too repulsive to be enjoyable but also felt like it could have been cut entirely without losing anything meaningful besides that one moment of melodrama when Tsukimi saw the supposed sex photo.

And then there was this complete non-ending that resolved literally nothing and only served to highlight how pointless this all was.

4/10. Such a frustrating disappointment on so many levels.

Probably 6yr rewatch and this show is still really freakin cute and I love it. I still don't really like this last arc though and it definitely brings it down in rating. Went by too fast, nothing really happened apart from Tsukimi finally coming out of her shell and making something substantial (with a lot of help from Kuranosuke), and the Amamizukan subplot where the whole goal of her making the dresses was to pay for it, was resolved by something that was completely inconsequential to anything that happened during the show. The mother just decides not to because her company wasn't relocating or something. Lame but whatever. The romance plots were never resolved either but I'm guessing that's just the "make an anime to sell the manga" hustle. Damn, sounds like I am being super negative here since it wasn't bad or anything, but a few little tweaks could've made this like twice as good.

Also I found Mayaya really annoying on my first watch. Aaaaaand that remains unchanged. Rest of Amamizukan I do like though.

To be honest, most of my opinions remain unchanged, and I'll probably put it at 8/10 overall. Only difference now is Kuranosuke is even more of a favorite character. He has an energy about him that I just absolutely love. He's also really cute, I just love his outfits much of the time, and how he crossdresses just cause he likes it and not because of a joke/being forced to/issues with identity. He's just a dude that loves fashion. Wish I had the confidence to do the same hahah.

What a fantastic show :) it was leagues beyond what I was hoping for. Kuranosuke's line to Tsukimi - "We share a common destiny now, you know?" - was powerful. Tsukimi can't run away from life anymore; Kuranosuke has helped push her out into the world. This is such a beautiful story :)

I will say that it took me a while to get used to Kuranosuke dressed as such a beautiful female hahaha :D but once I did, I started to kinda dig his fashion sense. Especially his taste in wigs!!! It was like he ALWAYS knew the right wig to wear! Him with the jellyfish dress was definitely the prettiest outfit he wore.

Hahaha you know, I think the prime minister didn't get enough screen time though! Also, I think this might be the first time I've noticed the voice of Buggy from One Piece in another show and he's pretty great :D same with the voice of Dio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as the chauffeur! He's fucking great too! Princess Jellyfish was full of surprises :) I'm gonna miss this cast of characters.
