It's funny how Horikita takes it out on Yagamauchi when she knows very well that in the class there is Kushida who did worse than him, despite all the criticism aimed at Yagamuchi, she doesn't say anything about Kushida even though she is the person who deserves it the most expulsion than anyone else having betrayed the class several times, now it would seem that she does it because she is afraid that Kushida could destroy the class, but this would further demonstrate her hypocrisy in not taking it out on the real person responsible because let's face it Yagamauchi is an idiot but an idiot who could hardly have brought harm to the class, I can't blame Hirata for what he said about Suzune knowing that he is protecting a traitor like Kushida in the first place.

She knows Kushida is a pretty important classmate to make her objective of graduating from class A possible, not only with her physical abilites but also with her communication skills and intelligence. That's why Horikta doesn't want to expel Kikyo.
Later, the next seasons will prove my point, but don't worry, in this case, Horikita knew what to do.
About Yamauchi, he was bringing harm to class D, not only being an useless student, but also betraying his class to give information to Sakayanagi. Yamauchi isn't just being useless, he literally betrayed his class so he has more chances of survival.
I won't try to defend Kushida because I lnow she's evil, but it would be easier and better to eliminate Yamauchi at once.

@MKIkawa Kushida damaged class D several times and yet she remains unpunished? Then how was Yagamuchi harming class D? If we see it from the characters' point of view, he was just expelling a classmate who had remained anonymous throughout the school period, it wouldn't have been a loss for his classmates (precisely because he didn't know that Ayanokoji was the mastermind behind class D) in a test in which someone had to be expelled... from Yagamauchi's point of view, Sayanagy's solution in expelling Kyotaka could solve every problem without harming the class

kushida is not a target Horikita can take out of the board. she has way too much influence and conection, attacking her would simply backfire.
thats Ayanokoji's job

Yamauchi gave information to his class in order to be saved by Sakayanagi, that is, in fact, betrayal. Kushida on the other hand, while also betraying her class, she is a fundamental part of class D. If they're gonna expel someone, it should be the student who contributs the least to the class.
Kushida's case is interesting, because even if she did things lile that, most students of her class still have no idea, so it would have been pretty mich impossible to expel her in this exam, because most students just wouldn't agree.

@Leon888 The only people who know of Kushida true nature are Horikita and Ayanokouji. Even if they wanted to expel Kushida from class, they don't have enough support for it. Most of the class wouldn't trust what they say about her. Horikita isn't a coward it just majority of the class is still on Kushida side at the moment.

@Leon888 Everyone is aware that Kushida participated in the expulsion of Ayanokoji and yet she placed second with the most votes. As someone said, there is no way Horikita would get her expelled considering the overwhelming support.

Also being anonymous is less problematic than Koenji skipping special exams that deducted points from the Class. Ayanokoji is also shown to run as fast as the former president and does not score the lowest in each exam which does not warrant him to be expelled as Horikita pointed out. So, Yamaguchi's POV to consider him as someone with no ability was wrong to begin especially when he did not show any himself and was at the bottom during exams.

But the turning point was the fact that half the class saw Yamaguchi exchange with A Class leader for his benefit, while no one saw Kushida trade with Ryuen's class which one case is much easier to raise doubt of betrayal at any point during the semester.

I have never seen a character who is more useless and annoying than Yamauchi, imagine being completely stupid and you decide to annoy and insult your classmates when the rumors came ...
Horikita is not a coward, she is just smart enough to get rid of him

The last episode was Horikita stepping up and taking the lead and also facing her brother whom she has rarely ever talked to and is afraid of

She overcame her fears in the last episode which in no way makes her a coward
Trying to expel Kushida at this point of the story doesn't make any sense and nor do they have hard proof with which they can Convince their classmates to vote for her

Being smart and avoiding things which can cause harm isn't a sign of cowardice and if it is then
Ayanokoji is the biggest coward

Who even cares, The Anime is a trash adaptation of the Light Novel.

Now, the reaction the above statement will get from anime-only whose reading ability is of a kid is the same reaction Horikita would have gotten from her classmates if she did that.
even tho both of them are the truth

The mastermind behind Yamauchi’s expulsion is Sakayanagi, Horikita is a pawn. For me it was good to see Horikita grow a pair and become a true class leader.
