Not going to lie, I thought this was a rather exciting return to the animated franchsie since 2021. Looks like it takes place at least 14 years after the previous season with its timeline.

Hana is introduced but also somewhat of a complicated character. They also put a lot of responsibility on his shoulders but it follows his journey. This new season has the similar tone of the previous season though and extends into the lore of the franchise. It's solid start imo.

Amazing start! There were even a few original scenes thrown in to tie it better with the Prequel series. The colors were super pretty too. Can't wait for more, though I'm still very confused at the state of the Shaman King anime franchise going forward as Flowers is an abrupt story, not sure if this confirms an adaptation of other canonical series like Red Crimson or Marcos, but whatever the case is, I'll make sure to 100% buy the Blu-rays to support the franchise.

The long-awaited Shaman King sequel in the form of Shaman King: Flowers, focusing on Yoh and Anna's son Hana, it's the Boruto sequel of Hiroyuki Takei's Shaman King universe.

Nana Mizuki's OP is fine, though her inclusion here since the reboot has been lukewarm at best.

16 years into the future with Hana having taken over Amidamaru from Yoh having completed the Shaman Fight against his twin brother Hao (which he won), but the father-complex son sure is not happy that he could not perform the same as his dad does. That said, people like Tamao, Tokageroh and Ryu certainly have aged, but a strange presence is coming back to haunt them all: the alternate line of Hao Asakura's descendants have come to rightfully take their position back as the TRUE Asakura line on Funbari Hill. And that someone who is also a Shaman, attempts a battle with Hana with Amidamaru, unweaving his Daikyou Oboro samurai spirit: Yohane.

The battle against Yohane should not be easy, given his connection to Hao, and since the Shaman Fight that this was somehow passed down to the descendants from the participants and the Patch, and they can also use their Over Soul powers. For Hana however, this is his very first battle, and his powers are uncalculated as of yet despite training his Over Soul for how long they have remained dorment. So, to face Yohane, they could be weaker than speculated, given that they've waited 1000 years before showing up. Sure, Yohane is weak, but how is Luca like, that when developed to their full potential, rivals that of Yoh's Over Soul: Spirit of Sword? Also, Alumi Niumbirch a.k.a Anna the Itako III, Silva's daughter is here also, so it defintely is Shaman King for the new generation.

A new Boruto-ish life for Shaman King (in fact is the OG Boruto before it was a thing), I'm kinda excited for this, though production values are still the same as the 2021 reboot.

Interesting start, Hana seems to be a good mix between Yoh and Anna, especially with that Hao's counterpart opponent, I'm curious to see what direction it will take

I see my problem's gonna be how much I forgot since even the reboot series ended... Well. Not quite enough to fail to see the knockoffs though. So far it seems like it can go either way, first episode a pretty standard fare for this kinda sequels, I guess. One thing's certain though: I wouldn't mind if they toned down the Bakugo levels of over-the-top in Hana just a smidge. Might be the similarities every which way, it just rubs me the wrong way.

Well, it's here: the sequel to Shaman King (2021). And we didn't even have to wait 2 years after that show ended for Shaman King: Flowers to start airing. Just 1 year and 9 months. Hana is just another hot-headed, short-tempered character it seems, and is rude to people. But I guess that's better than having a protagonist that is a carbon copy of Yoh. And Hana is also with Amidamaru, Yoh's Guardian Ghost, instead of having his own unique Guardian Ghost. Interesting. Adult Yoh didn't appear in the first episode, which is odd. Can't say that I'm too excited for a show that's adapting a manga that is currently ranked #7869 on this site, and is only going to be 13 episodes long, though, and not to mention that it's focusing on different characters instead of the characters I know from SK (2021) (with only Amidamaru being the exception). And with over 36,000 people who dropped the 2021 series, there's going to be a lot less people on MAL watching this sequel. After this is over, they'll probably announce an adaptation of Shaman King: The Super Star, though it'll probably take almost 2 years for that to air too.

Edit: Manga ranks even lower now. No longer in the Top 8000. The sequel to Flowers ranks just as low at #7232. They're both inferior to the original Shaman King by a large margin.

I'm sick of shonen protagonists having shit ass childs, I know the Flowers manga is from 2012 but fuck this Hana kid is just like Boruto.
Why is always the same shit? A protagonist has a son, and he turns out to be a piece of shit, disrespectful, with hate towards his dad for some stupid reason, it's so annoying.
I always look back a series like Dragoball, there Goku almost never acted as a father to Gohan because of the plot, but the kid loves the shit out of him, even after becoming an adult with his own family he still loves his dad so fkng much, that's both cool and wholesome.
Who the fuck said kids being annoying and hating their dads (who are characters we actually know and love, like Yoh in this case) are cool? They suck so hard.
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~
Btw, cry about it.

To be honest here, while i do love shaman king the OG, i had absolutely no expectations for this, as it is one of those sequel battle shounen manga works, but i must say, i very much liked the first episode. Was really surprised.

Feels just like the 2021 reboot, slow, boring and with little to no excitement. At least it's only 13 episodes.

The new "rival" apparently have a weak body... LOL (but equal power as Yoh?)

While Yoh's kid seems to have almost the same spiritual progression as Yoh when he was also around his age.

Also, new Gyaru at the end, hmm... she reminds me of someone... LOL

If during the original show I joked that Yoh sounded like ikemen onna due to his deep, but very feminine, mature voice, Hannah seems to take this even further and feels like a passionate masculine tomboy. Was there similar androgyny in the original (Japanese) version of the manga, or am I just trying too hard to convince myself that they sound feminine?

But anyway, I like that the anime gives the same 00s battle shonens vibes as the original manga. They kept the original atmosphere without trying to make it too modern or trendy.

16 years later (in SK's story), Yoh and Hao's children begin a new rivalry.

•Apparently it is a short story, but if it serves to add missing details to the original plot, it is accepted.

So inside the Great Spirit dimension-place Yoh looks as old as he was when he participated in the Shaman Fight, and his brother hasn't aged a day either?

Ryu is an upstanding citizen who obeys traffic laws but his self-proclaimed successor is more of a thug than he is. Didn't stop Mr. Blond Pompadour from getting beat by Hana, the hot-blooded son of chill Yoh and Anna. Tamao has to play the role of Hana's mother while Yoh has gone to see his god twin bro in Mu.
I wondered where the older Shaman King was throughout the previous series, so he is the way of Hao's mass genocide of non-shamans and the Shaman King that moulded the society that existed for the last 500+ years. He's a god of greed and money...and at the food stall, there's chit chat about recession; is this how his transfer of power over to Hao manifests?
Hana who treats Amidamaru's gravestone like a chair is challenged by his chuunibyou cousin. The frustration of not being able to participate in the Shaman Fight like his father did and being told not to use spirits in public culminates in an easy win for Hana.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

It's Yoh and Anna son story... It's begin the same location as his dad was. I'm always wondering why his name is Hana... Isn't Hana a flower?...
Tamao from shy girl change to a brave woman... Glad she's change... She'beautiful now.
The Yohane kid.. He look like young Tao Ren...
