'Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei 3rd Season' Reveals Additional Cast, Staff, Opening Theme, Promo for Spring 2024
 The official website of the third anime season adapting Tsutomu Satou's Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School) light novel revealed additional cast, staff, opening theme, a key visual (pictured), and promotional video on Thursday. The anime is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, MBS, and TV Aichi in April 2024.Kikunosuke Toya (Chainsaw Man) and Tatsumaru Tachibana (The God of High School) are joining the cast as Minoru Kudou and Takuma Shippou, respectively. Houchuu Ootsuka (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is replacing Motomu Kiyokawa as Retsu Kudou. Jimmy Stone (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Tsuioku-hen assistant director) is directing the anime at 8bit. Kana Ishida (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) is designing the characters and is the chief animation director. Taku Iwasaki (Qualidea Code) is composing the music. Satou originally published the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2008. Kadokawa began releasing the title under its Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Kana Ishida in July 2011 and published the 32nd and final volume in September 2020. Satou launched the Magian Company sequel light novel the following month. Kadokawa shipped the seventh volume on December 8. | The second season was a massive downgrade & dissappointment (in terms of story etc , not animation quality) for me compared to the first season. I really hope this season will be better. |

| I hope this season is better, season 1 and season 2 were underwhelming, especially season 2. I love the tropes the show has to offer, magic school, OP protagonist, a little bit of harem, but the way this is written is just boring, and the characters around Onii-sama like Erika, Shizuku, Honoka, Mizuki are not great characters and they can be very annoying at times. |

I've been waiting til they get past the part where I stopped in the LN, which was the end of the master conference arc, are they there yet?
| @misohyk Nope, currently it looks like it'll definitely be Double Seven + Steeplechase. Maybe they'll do Ancient City Insurrection too. Which would put them right before the Yotsuba Succession Arc and the Master Clans Conference for a potential season 4. |

| @DatRandomDude Are you knowledgeable about Mahouka? After the announcement of the new season, I discussed several times with a friend how quickly they could get to volume 16, given that after it the plot sharply changes the emphasis in the story. |

| @DatRandomDude Ah, I see. Simply due to the fact that there was a fairly long time gap between the first and second seasons, LN has moved quite far away from the anime in comparison. |
