| Why is Precure referenced so much in other animes? So, I was watching Dark Gathering, and one of the characters asked, are you watching Precure? I wasn't expecting that name to come up in this anime, but after hearing that I remember seeing Precure come up in many other shows and movies. In the anime Weathering with You, we see two cosplayers dressed up as Cure Black and Cure White.  Some aren't so blunt as the name will be changed, or the Cure's will look different. In MHA they called it Gung-Ho! Glitter Squad 10, in Himouto! Umaru-Chan they called it Precura.  The most notable one was in Pokemon Sun and Moon. I'll let the clip explain. It is also seen in a few Negima chapters in the manga, and other works. So, why do you think it's referenced so much? Is it because it's an ongoing title, it's more well-known, or is it just cheap to put in? This is just something I've been wondering for a while. |
| I'd say it's because currently in Japan, Precure is basically the magical girl series. Precure killed off almost all of its competitors and is incredibly popular. If you want to reference a currently popular magical girl series, it's basically your only option and the one that makes the most sense. |
