Just because you are not dating doesn’t mean you don’t want the best for them anymore. Just because you let go doesn’t mean you didn’t love them terribly. Giving up doesn’t mean your feelings were inferior or it didn’t matter. Even after everything that happened and you get hurt, you can still keep liking him.

Skip and loafer does it again, one of the best manga in history.

I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something.

People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English.

Mitsumi's circle, especially her 3 main girls really are ones anyone could've hoped for a friend. And I have to say, I can feel how Mitsumi really developed from a naive newcomer to the city into a mature person and not just someone who is dead-set on her ambitions, she really has moved a long way forward.

Literally romance at their youth is way too early. Prioritize yourself gurl.

@CQLLIST I disagree with this, you can still juggle work/studies and find room for lovu. I know many girls who are married to their middle/high school sweetheart and been together for a decade now. Relationships take work, but its more emotional work and stuff.

I think Mitsumi is pushing away romance because its foreign to her, compared to studying. I feel for her, cus I was the same but just shy. Dating is definitely scary because it relies on being super open but with some romance involved. Maybe I'm being too biased for Shima or want them back together lol

Ngl, I thought Japan was incapable of romance since they don't have much pda n too much.. ecchi-esque things. Anime has ruined my image of them I guess.

Also kind of ironic she rejects the thing that can help repopulate her small town by prioritizing studying and work, she forgoes romance.

@mshehana sorry to butt into this conversation, but I feel mitsumi mean love and relationship in general, not romance or dating. Japan isn’t big on pda but in private they are as intimate as any other people on earth. I was born and raised in a south east asian country and it’s the same there too. People still date, more privately but with no less emotion. Mitsumi is scared of this particular emotion unlike her best friend back at home. Within that short time of dating, she felt tremendous anxiety and social pressure of being shimas girlfriend, and not knowing if he feels the same as her. Only as someone as strong as her can break it off and still treasure the friendship with ex. She still likes him. If they are meant to be together, they will get there eventually.

@nushrathumaira Its ok, its a forum discussion so anyone should be invited to talk ( ´・・)ノ(._.`)

Sorry, I don't know much about other cultures, its also varied in America from state to state and town to town.
Its hard to keep up with all of it (。_。)

I think this is a similar discussion Mitsumi and Yamada had. Where Yamada believes dating leads to love and relationships and Mitsumi is the opposite. She believes love and a relationship leads in first before dating (I think.. like Shima?). This is where I agree with Yamada but I can still understand Mitsumi. At least, that's what I remember so forgive me if I remembered wrong. Thats what I interpreted.

Its very interesting the author understands many different views on how relationships work. Or don't work lol. If they are meant to be, I do think it'll take effort on both their parts. Its like I said, relationships take work. Some do the work (or effort) and keep it together and others use each other for night calls when they get lonely. Like when Ririka calls Shima and leans on him a lot. Its sympathetic for Shima but abusive by Ririka. .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.

Even for Yamada, he wants a girl to just fall into his arms and is very open but its not that easy to find someone. He has to put in work and find a girl.

@mshehana my memory is bad and I forgot about earlier chapters 😞 I don’t remember that conversation but I think you are right, mitsumi does have similar belief that love precedes dating. I feel if mitsumi didn’t end up breaking it off then she and shima would have gone on to the sympathetic , surface level type of relationship.
