| As usual, anime fans seem incapable of comprehending that it’s the staff which make a series’ style what it is, not the studio. The main difference between Hero and the first three seasons wasn’t the studio hop, but rather the switch in directors from Tetsuya Yanagisawa to Yoshifumi Sueda, as well as to a lesser extent a switch in character designers. Also the series looks fine imo, the saturated colors of Hero are more my style and quite a few of the character designs honestly look better in the season’s art style |

No hate on fanservice, but sometimes is just used to deceive the audience from the overall lack of substance. Highschool of the Dead is a perfect example.

Plus there’s the fact that most anime creators famously don’t give much of a shit about western anime fans, and that people everywhere seem to generally vastly overestimate the power and influence of random people on social media, who are frankly harmless in practice. This also isn’t even mentioning how “tourist” tends to be used more as an arbitrary label for anyone the user doesn’t like than any sort of actually useful descriptor in practice, and that such “tourists” might sometimes have good points that their opponents would rather bury their heads in the sand and ignore than actually listen to |

Note that I wasn’t talking about anime as a whole, but about the specific kinds of anime represented by series like, well, High School DxD. There’s a vast, vast difference between series like Spy x Family, Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, Oshi no Ko, or One Piece, mass market franchises which are what people mean when they talk about Anime in the mainstream, and series like High School DxD, Oreimo, 100 Girlfriends, or every other seasonal show that doesn’t top the charts, which are almost always designed to pander pretty much exclusively to the interests of male Japanese Otaku NEETs, and to a much lesser extent, their international equivalents. And while anime becoming mainstream in the west will mean there’ll probably be more of the former type of show in the future, the latter will always continue to exist because basement-dwellers with disposable income and nothing better to do than jerk off to anime waifus will always be the demographic most willing to dump exorbitant amounts of money into the most prohibitively expensive merchandise. Like this: Buddy this said "could" not will , actually it's there for pretty much every anime we know . Even though it has added that it found some leakes and insiders which suggested that season 5 might be in development which increase our hope a lot but still it's far from being confirmed as such type of insiders are being found in many other animes as well and even after 5-6 years and even more , many of them didn't get the sequels. So yeah it's not confirmed yet but hope is still there and far from being lost. |
