I've been thinking about this for a while now...

When a character has healing powers, it is usually more aimed at a female character who becomes somewhat vulnerable to attacks from other opponents, but now if you look we have Josuke from Jojo's bizarre adventure.
Josuke is a young student with a stylish cut who gets irritated if I say something bad about the cut, and his stand "crazy diamond" involves healing but in a unique way. In your opinion, is it a break from stereotype?

I mean originally p4 came out before the healer stereotype became popular so there wasn’t really anything to break from in the first place

the anime which popularized this trope was none other than Naruto which came in 1999 while diu was published in 1992 so you say it was even before the trope was introduced at all

also the main character from part 5 has kind of similar powers and he was originally aimed as a female by araki but due to the state of shonen magazine back then he decided to make him a male at the end

Characters like Marco and law also break these stereotypes, it's cool to see characters like this.

Oh I understand, I forgot that JoJo's Part 4 had originally come out in the 90s, but Josuke is still a very interesting character

I never gave it much of a thought that it broke a stereotype. I just find it cool that Josuke is moreso selfless when you take in consideration that he can heal others but not himself due to his stand ability, unlike Giorno who can do so.

In terms of video games, the main characters of the Mother series fit this too (Niten, Ness, and Lucas). The series' first entry came out in 1989 and having an rpg where the main character was also the main healer was pretty new.

Yeah, I guess it is! Never thought about it. To be honest all the characters in JoJo are very unique. I'd say that's the point.

Zoomer anime fan: Yes, Josuke breaking the stereotype, part 4 so woke *happy*

Oldschool anime fans: Josuke is older than the stereotypes, lol
