While Japan gets their annual Pokemon flick in the summer heat, us overseas folks usually have to wait a few grueling months for ''our'' version. Dubbed or subbed your pick.

However the dub got released faster, we can finally see if the Volcano pokemon's movie will be a blast or not... ...!

I have to say that I quite liked this movie. Sure, some things were clearly rehashed for instance almost everything from Diancie which being a XY movie and this a XYZ really shouldn't have happened, way too soon..
The flying fortresses which at this point might aswell be a staple of Pokemon movies next to travelling to a random kingdom and of course seeing a guy wanting to use a specific Pokemon as cornerstone of his evil plan. Bonus points for using a Tyranitar, no one evil has ever use that Pokemon XD

Seriously though, stop that.

No, what made this movie great was Volcanion and the cute antics of Magearna. Seeing Ash struggling against a headstrong pokemon, at certain points literary getting dragged along gave some good chuckles aswel.
And they even mixed some drama. Seeing Magearna lay their without her ''soul'' was just heartwrenching especially when you see how she just got dumped there. She might be mechanical but she is one of the softest character Pokemon has ever presented. Using already traumatized pokemon as hostages was cruel aswell.

All in all, I you liked Diancie and Victini yer gonna love this one aswell but even on it's own it's still a nice addition to the Movie line up.

Yes what made the movie were the pokemon themselves. I liked the characters, plot was kinda lackluster.

I hate how Pokemon don't even care about having a good story anymore. Just showing off pokemon with no plot is pointless. We need to go back to Gen 1-4

Awww, if I had watched it when it aired on Saturday and posted on here I would've been first :(

Anyway ...

I thought it was a really great movie!

I loved the kingdom and that evil guy wanted to use Magearna's heart-soul to turn the wall in to a flying fortress. It made me so sad seeing how Meowth reacted to her voice disappearing, he was crying so much! awww! Meowth is so cute at times! It was sad when they thought Magearna was gone but she came back upon seeing Volcanion, who too looked like he had collapsed and died, even Pikachu thought so but then it turned out he was still alive too after Megearna made flowers again.

It was nice to see yet another talking Pokemon in Volcanion lol. Seems to be a staple of the movies lately lol.

Their friendship or love should I most likely say, as I thought it was was so cute!

Volcanion did well to destroy the fortress and survive.

The Mega Wave stuff and forced mega evolution was an interesting thing to see too! Not nice but interesting.

It was awesome to see Ash-Greninja join the fight too! he's so awesome and amazing <3

They really took the steam punk to the max in this movie and I'm surprised no one else on here has made mention of it.

Also the fact the great creator who made all the stuff for the kingdom of Azoth and Magearna was called Nikola, presumably because he was named after and so like Nikola Tesla. The moment they said Nikola, I was like yeah Tesla lol.

It was nice to see them save everyone and the Pokemon on the plateau who didn't trust humans since bad things had happened to them, poor things.

It was nice to see Alain at the start too and Korrina battling their mega Charizard and Lucario.

It was great to see Team Rocket had a bigger role in a movie too! They were helping out the bad guys to begin with until they saw just how bad they were and wanted to help or were on the side of the twerp and co. It was sad when Meowth was separated from them too for a while. It was cute when James used that claw grabber to get on the ship and he and Jessie looked so cute at first hanging on like a couple! a few times I thought they looked a little like a couple in this movie! In fact, I was thinking, maybe they are meant to be like a couple (I always wanted them to be one) and Meowth is meant to be like their adopted kid lol. They act like a family like that, so cute, squeee~

The Prince went on his own Pokemon adventure at the end just like Ash suggested.

I loved the end song <3 It was so beautiful <3

It was really a cute and cool Pokemon movie! I really enjoyed it <3

Nothing great, but I enjoyed this film more than, hmm, the last few films. Volcanion was annoying at first, but he grew on me. The climax was actually exciting as opposed to anti-climatic, it got me to care about that little safe haven for Pokemon, and the side-characters got to do stuff for once.

Heck, the fact that it brought up Pokemon abuse was pretty gutsy for a Pokemon film (even if they kept hammering in the "I don't trust humans" thing constantly).

"Squishie"had his big moment too, which was pretty cool.

I think most of us expect TOO much out of the pokemon movies by comparing it to the previous movies. For me i set my expectations way too high because it was XYZ and it made the experience kinda dull since the story was pretty non-existent.
Fun movie to watch but definitely not the best a pokeon movie can do.

Really hoping the Pokemon I choose you movie will set the bar high again for pokemon movies

Sorry, but was a weak film, with a plot very simple and development previsible!!!
Ash and friends in their role, helping but not ending... smiles, tears, action and runners to this comun film!!!
The best of this film was the Pokemon, the new Pokemon, cool and showy, specially Volcanion, i liked it!!! also, to watch a a lot of Mega transformation/evolution in the same film was a jewel to the eyes!!

probably not the best movie, but since i haven't watched pokemon for almost an year (thanks to the late subs on sun and moon, i'll just skip this season), so watching this was quite nice ... also Serena is most likely my favorite Pokemon girl =D

it wasn't too bad, that Magiana was pretty fun to watch, the pokemons getting used to our team, and Volcanion with his tsundere reactions

oh god that ending, when they thought he was gonna die and suddenly he just goes aaaaaaaatcho LOL i lost myself and had to laugh pretty hard =D and then when the song was going and the bad guy got pulled by the rings...
favorite "new girls" from summer <3 ... click sig for older seasons and more possible picks (rip all the other choices)

Oh I don't know what I expected before watching this movie. I'm not a fan of XY gen, but I expected at least the characters to be more meaningful than that. They really reduced Serena to the simple purpose of cooking and buying clothes... this can't be more shameful than that. And the two other kid were just as annoying as always. As for the rest, it's pretty classic for a pokemon movie.

It was enjoyable. My main nitpick is that I don't think it should have been possible for Squishy to take complete form at this point. I would have considered 50% form sufficiently epic enough for a movie.

Finally a good pokemon movie. And it ends up being the last one before the movies go alternate timeline. Go figure.

This movie had a similar feel to 2000, where rather than some big "the world is ending!" event, it's a smaller but important event. The smaller event allows for the movie to spend time on the characters and man does this movie hit out of the park with its great pokemon characters. Sure, the humans are not as good as the previous movie, but one thing I've always liked with pokeani is the exploration of the pokemon and them having personalities as complicated and varied as humans, that no other medium (that I know of) really goes into. On that respect, this movie does a great job.

I don't think the plot needs to all consuming or big; the small plot here works well for what this movie wanted to deliver. Unlike the last movie, this one knows what it wanted to do and doesn't try to over-extend itself.

The weak parts involved Rocket Gang (again...) and the villain in a way. The latter, it's just a matter of exploring a little more of why he's like this instead of "yeah, evil. no reason." The former has to do with the whiplash of their characters in this one: at first, they were willing and uncaring about the forced Mega Evolution which honestly seemed OOC, even Nyarth who should know the pokemon were suffering because of it. Then when the Soul Heart gets stolen, Nyarth is crying big tears and wailing about the pokemon suffering and its voice? It's jarring and doesn't line up with how they were before. It sorta feels like the movie wanted to do what the old movies used to do and have Rocket Gang actively help Satoshi, but also hesitant to do it? Maybe because I haven't seen the anime since DP started, but does Rocket Gang no longer has helpful moments with Satoshi? Are the Rocket Gang no longer to be the "good guys"? I dunno, I just really didn't like their role in this movie, it felt like the writer didn't know what to do with them.

And Rocket Gang caring for Nyarth without them having to think on it and Nyarth being so happy and drying at seeing them was weird too, haha. I suppose they got tighter as a trio since DP.

Outside those two problems, yeah the movie was enjoyable and seeing Satoshi-tachi and the pokemon interact - A+. Plus, they added the abuse of pokemon from trainers which, whoa, never thought I'd see that again! It'd really levitated the pokemon scenes.

This is the seconded time seeing the film and I have to say I enjoyed this film then the Hoopa one, the MagearnaVolcanion story is better then Hoopa legendary battle showdown film. The abuse the Pokémon went through is a lot on this film form Magearna suffering to the many painful memories form the Pokémon that live in the plateau to then the forces mega evolution and the pain the owners put their Pokémon though and seeing Volcanion being the protector and caretaker was a lot. Plus the power system was forced mega evolutions to me was more interesting, wish they focus more on that then chasing Megearna around. The Animation is consistent with that last film in same ways but I have to say the Mech town with the old style vides was a better location for the film then the Desert City in the movie 18. Loved the time spent with the Pokémon living their lives in peace with each other in the Plateau. The main gang SerenaBonnie and Clemont all got a great amount of screen time it was mostly seeing Ash getting throne around kind of suck for him. The princess Kimia and the prince Lacel were fine at time's I felt that they weren't needed sometimes, Team Rocket was a surprised that they did not try to do much but show a bit more caring and understanding at the last few moments of the film. A Fine time spent watching, ( the last gang/group film they made GG good bye! )

I liked Ash's new outfit, very dapper!

Story isn't something we haven't seen before but still an enjoyable movie.
Some great animation as the movies are known for and it was fun seeing Zygarde's different forms.

Sadly it seems this is the end of the original movies as the remaining movies (aside from CGI Mewtwo) are set in an alternate universe rebooting Ash's beginning from my understanding.
