Well, the guild building blowing up in the OP makes sense now. Eins is destroying the round table.

Still not sure how I feel about the heavy political focus on the world-building. While it's interesting, there's just so much other politics heavy stuff I can read/watch that are levels more complex and more realistic.

However, at the same time, there's not much political heavy stuff in anime so this is special in this circumstance. I guess I'm just watching at this point because I fell in love with the series a decade ago and want to see the conclusion even if the politics is a bit basic. Being basic isn't necessarily bad, but it's just not my cup of tea.
I say goodbye unto you,
And with this parting,
My most beautiful dream dies inside me...
But I tell you goodbye,
For the rest of life,
Even if I spend all life thinking about you.

I was hoping a return to political intrigues after the mediocrity of season 2 would make Log Horizon interesting for me again, but at this point it's all just noise, random names being thrown at the screen every couple of minutes without actually making it clear enough WHY I should care about any of it.

More to the point, this whole situation honestly feels pretty contrived, partially because this should have all come to light well before it ended up doing but also because this attempted power grab by Eins and the People of the Land makes zero sense: how can he just be appointed as a Duke when an existing power structure is already in place in terms of the Round Table? And given the Round Table has a monopoly on the land of Akiba (including the bank, of course), they can instantly quell this whole situation by freezing Eins' assets and forcing him out of the city entirely (as they did with that guild preying on the young, inexperienced players in season 1).

Even under the premise that they want to resolve the situation amicably (i.e. without alienating the People of the Land and risking trade relations and everything else), there's no reason for the Round Table to be strong-armed into this election for an Akiba Government: they ARE the Akiba Government, for all intents and purposes. All they need to do is rebrand themselves under that name and offer the People of the Land some form of representation in the Government and that should resolve the situation on its own, allowing the Round Table to engage in equal, peaceful discussions/negotations with Eins and the People of the Land without entirely upheaving the political situation in Akiba.

Ultimately, I'd have to say that my tastes have changed over the years and the political intrigue no longer works for me on a logical level or in terms of emotional investment, so this'll be the end of my Log Horizon journey.

If only Shiroe still was the guild building owner instead of making it a permanent free building for all he could've used that as blackmail leverage to stop Ains from taking certain actions especially since he seceded the Royal Table there at the end.

There's a lot of characters, a shit ton of them and it's hard to keep track who's who. And they talk a loooot. And when they do, they mention characters that yet again I don't know of. The way this show handles politics is way too boring and unnecessary complex imo. Look at Tensura, Rimuru literally erected a country from nothing and he had to establish good relations, treaties, and trade with other countries, basically politics too but it was never boring.

Yeah, people are saying it's boring because it's too politics-heavy, but I don't think that's really the problem. The problem is more that they are doing the politics in a really boring way. If they had slowly introduced us to these newer political issues over the course of the last season instead of suddenly dumping it on us, it would have felt much less arbitrary and confusing.

And the complex political intrigue CONTINUES!

I don't remember the history of this game's Japan (Yamato) being discussed before. Also, why can't the adventurers just grow their own produce?

hmmm, more politics. Really quite a lot to take in.

Eins gets appointed as duke, but it seems possible that he is being used by the west, so they can gain more power.

Not sure how Shiroe is going to wiggle his way out of this one...

Wish he'd just leave Akiba and settle up north and let Eins do whatever in that troublesome place...
