Great episode, really great presentation on the Saxon and Romans part I really get it a lot. And sooner and later Thorfinn will finally get close up with Askeladd, and finally the 4 guys, Thorfinn, Thorkell, Canute, and Askeladd will meet soon.

Thorfinn still obsessing over revenge even though he's had multiple dreams of his father telling him to stop. Plus what his father said while alive. He says he's not being controlled by Askeladd, but...

Is he ever going to see his family again? Does he even care?

I don't care for Askeladd waxing poetic about life, death, philosophy, whatever.

Thorkell still portrayed in an awful, cartoonish manner.

I guess Canute does suck after all.

Rip the messenger guy, didn't expect Askeladd to suddenly behead him like that. Sad nightmare Thorfinn had there. Hopefully at the end of the journey he will realize the path of revenge isn't worth it and that he can better return to the two people who are precious to him: his mom and sister

Thorkell is still itching for more battles that guy honestly doesn't give up, What a nightmare Thorfinn had it's really sad to see him like this getting dragged by violence as he strives a way to avenge his father

Thorfinn still haven't acknowledged Askeladd as his ally good for him he's still intact

Thorkell's had enough of waiting and acted in his own hands this is going to be insane compared to his defensive side we get to see his offensive way of fighting.

Obvious that Askeladd would kill that survivor, he too willingly told them everything.

Why did Askeladd kill a messenger when he told him about a captured prince? Isn't this a form of war crime? As far as I know in the Middle Ages, killing a messenger of another state is an automatic declaration of war.I know Askeladd is more like a hired pirate.Maybe I missed some part where it was explained.

They were on the same side (both on the side of King Sweyn) so it wasn't a declaration of war. As for killing him, if the messenger had gotten to the main camp there would be more people coming to help rescue Canute, and Askeladd wasn't going to have that. More people meant more divided the reward would be. In his eyes (and his men's) why not just hide the fact that there as a messenger at all and that way when they rescue Canute alone it seems more of a feat to whoever they decide to give Canute over to

It's quite a slow-paced ep, nothing much is going on, though that dream sequence that Thorfinn had is as good indication as any for his first inkling of doubts within his heart, the doubt that may make him rethink whether pursuing Askeladd for revenge is more important than returning to his family, after all, it's been more than 10 years since his departure. He's more of a warrior in terms of occupation than any of the Icelandic villagers, but not the warrior that Thors would have envisioned.

Thorfinn had a nightmare about his father and his village. Askeladd is seriously a very interesting character. I'm very intrigued by his motives. Also, Thorfinn seeing this all makes it much more exciting. What's Thorfinn thinking?

Great to see Thorfinn remembering his family. I can see future events stemming from this. Also, Askeladd just became a more interesting character.

Pretty slow episode overall, key thing I liked from this was Askeladd's introspective monologue during his conversation at dawn with Thorfinn, and his charisma shining at the end to motivate his crew to be the sole people to rescue the Prince and heap the rewards all to themselves and take all the glory. The Thorfinn dream was alright, reinforces his feelings about his family and how he hasn't been able to let go or move forward from what happened in the past with revenge still on the mind, even though in these dreams, we do see him remember what Thors was trying to teach to him. Also gave a little reminder about how he's truly been gone for so long now, hard to predict what's happening with his mom and sister throughout these years of being separated like that. Rest of the episode was pretty slow, some stuff toned down from the manga. Did drag there a bit in the middle, some of the power showcase isn't amazing either but at least it's consistent with what was established with Thorkell a couple episodes ago.

I find Askeladd whole speech about the how the Roman fell to the Saxon and that he will not faded into the twilight quite interesting. Thorkell throwing rocks like a catapult and charging into battle with a huge lodge is really over the top but still something Thorkell would do.

I like Askeladd's monologue about the rise and fall of empires and the young replacing the old. Time is truly a cruel mistress.
If Putin is a man of his word. He'll finally launch the nukes once he's close to death and bring about Ragnarok in real life. Good riddance to humanity!

Thorfinn's expression was unintentionally hilarious to me, it practically screamed "c'mon dude, you didn't have to kill the messenger"

Expected Canute to be a secretly OP commander but I guess you can't do much when you're up against Thorkell. He's still alive so guess there's still potential for something.

Finally, we got to hear more from Askeladd directly to Thorfinn. He had a good point, he will grow older some day and Thorfinn will eventually be able to beat him. But will that revenge finally truly give him the satisfaction he was seeking? On the bigger scale of things it seems like they are gonna be taking on Thorkell's army so I'm excited to see what will happen."This is the age of twilight, let's go out with a bang"

The prince is Christian.. he slumbers in the meadow . Life in Vinland. They are waiting for him. They have already won the war. He stands on the ritual site. He acknowledges the possibility of his defeat. He tosses aside an ancient coin. A new Dawn is breaking in the age of twilight. They were all as strong as Bears. The prince was taken. Ragnarok approaches. They are off to fight a five to one battle. For great monetary gain. They might as well go out with a bang. 3
