Finally it's here!!!!!! I'm currently watching Yes Precure 5 Gogo (and plan to watch Splash Star later) so all of the characters are very fresh in my mind but I'm sure that for most people it's been so long since we've seen Nozomi and the gang!

Saturday mornings are gonna be so great this fall! (Nozomi voice) It's decided! ๐Ÿฆ‹

This was so good, I loved seeing all the references to the extended cast of both series (I nearly spat out my drink when Michiru and Kaoru were shown to be streamers/bloggers(?)). I am a little worried this is gonna turn into "gosh adult life sure does suck", but so far its pretty great!

I just saw this on Crunchyroll and was intrigued by this. I know that it's a sequel of Yes! Precure 5, but I was wondering if the episode is okay for newcomers the series? I haven't watched the original, but I do want to watch this. Is the first episode confusing if you don't know anyone? Or do you think it will be okay to just jump in and see where it goes?

In my opinion, it's kinda general enough so far that you should be able to at least try it! Of course, you're gonna like the characters more when you've spent 100-ish episodes with them, but I think that you would be fine with basic info like "Nozomi was the pink leader cure and the other girls were her teammates", etc!

“Pursuing ideals is fine but you aren’t a child anymore” Sad reality of adulthood.

Damn, seeing an adult precure cast is really a cool change. I haven’t seen the original precure this is based on, so I was a little confused, but I still really liked the opening episode. We are eating really good on Saturdays/Sundays with this and Hirogaru.

Felt really bad for Nozomi and the student she was trying to help. When you’re a young kid it’s ok to be so positive and idealistic, but the world unfortunately doesn’t work like that. You need concrete actions to make a difference. In this case, someone to be able to pay her tuition. Could really see how much that hurt Nozomi to feel as if she let her student down.

So many drinking references in a precure episode is such a departure from the norm lol I like it though!

The girls are back together! Probably the biggest example of how having seen the original series will make things hit even harder. But still a really cool moment. I found it pretty sad that they hadn’t hung out much since they graduated. Very realistic with how you drift apart from people you went to school with. But you’d think precures who save the world together would be a little different:/

Looking forward to learning more about the villain and plot next week

This is so surreal to me. That a show I watched over 10 years ago, and since have rewatched again and again, a show that's stayed one of my favorites since then, that's it's back with a sequel where the characters are now grown-ups!? It's so fucking surreal to me, I'm still trying to process it. I can't explain my feelings about this, it's just so amazing to see something you never expected to ever see again.

First this, then Kimi ni Todoke s3 AND THEN Shugo Chara manga sequel!? Shoujo fans, we're being blessed T-T

Look at my precious Nozomi, she's all grown up. Crazy how I was her age when I first watched Yes 5!, and now as she's an adult I'm still her age. HOW CRAZY IS THAT!?

Who's cutting onions cause it's definitely not me T-T

Was that Principal office part an self joke? Like how, Yes Precure 5 is getting special treatment?

I, for now don't feel this team is the best Precure team for this. Environment, despair.

Lets see how Zetsubou-sensei Precure will develop.

I agree, the Yes Precure 5 team is from the more softer Precure installments. Heartcatch or Go Princess teams of Precure would've been a bit better.

Not a bad start, the pacing is looking to be a bit on the slower side (also a bit darker as it should be) than the average Precure anime. It's nice to see everyone back though, I just hope the transformations come up soon.

I really like the tone and unique take on the franchise. The mysteries already have me hooked and I'm excited to see more.

I love Nozomi and the girls their adult designs are much better animated, in fact all the animation is great quality! I am already emotional, nearly crying and smiling almost all the time. Despite the design changes and doing grown up things the are still the samr people at their core. Just my unorganized thoughts, I'm not a reviewer I just see stuff I like and gush over it. No matter the quality going forward I am here for the long haul.

Average premiere.

For anyone wondering why the environmental issues are being brought up it's to tie in to Splash Star's themes.

First episode aired! So hyped for this!
I have: loved Splash Star, kinda liked Yes 5 but need a few episodes to finish GoGo as I'm simulwatching in group, hope I won't get a huge spoiler lol.

Let's first talk about the OP/intro.

Seeing them being grown-ups makes me feel old, and I've only been watching for around 1 year ๐Ÿ˜”
Cure Nozomi grabbing adult Nozomi it's just so perfect!

And of course, the general PreCure shot. I love how they went with the colors with this one :]

As for the episode itself, we got to see some nice cameos, such as the Splash Star twins than manages a channel or the bar owners (sorry, I'm bad with names :P). Main villain appears, though I'm unsure about its intention? I somehow get it, but I can't understand what does it want to achieve. Sadly, it seems that our girls lost the ability to transform into PreCures.

There's no Saki nor Mai in this episode, and judging by the eyecatch (unless they do a Kirakira move and change eyecatch per episode number), it seems that this would be Yes 5 focused. I don't hate Yes 5, but I was hoping to see more from Splash Star duo.

I'm a big Rin/Cure Rouge enjoyer, so of course all of her appearances here made me happy! Ending shot is also chef kiss~

There are lots of references being made, the most notorious one for me it's the Splash Star 1 shot in the ED scene :]

If you can't find the similarities, here's the comparison that I made in a Discord server:

Overall hyped for this, but I don't think it could hit as hard as the previous seasons did. Still a nice "spin-off"(?), I'd love to see more of the girls just vibing being adults. And of course, can't wait for next episode!

P.S: for those wondering, you could technically watch this without the previous seasons. But if you want the most of your enjoyment, I highly recommend watching Splash Star, Yes 5 and GoGo. Futari wa isn't necessary for now unless they decide to make some random cameos, and there were Splash Star details in this episode. Most important as of now is to at least reach Yes 5 GoGo as an important character appears in here! (and huge spoiler)

I'm just over the moon seeing Nozomi and the rest of Yes 5 girls return after such a long time and as adulths this time. This is such a cool concept, the continuation of a magical girl's life once they become adult dealing with adult issues.

LMAO! I laughed so hard when Nozomi did the transfromation, Oh Nozomi, you're still as goofy as ever and I love it.

I only started properly following precure by Tropical Rouge Precure and haven't seen GoGo, but it's easy to understand this anime even without watching previous instalments.

I like how they addressed that the girls lost their transformation item after a while and I expect we're going to get a reason for it.

I know we're expecting them to transform since this is PreCure after all, but I also think the theme is we can help people out even without being a magical superhero

This was so much fun and I was bummed when the episode ended when it did. I would have loved a double premiere since this is a special occasion for the franchise.

I've only seen the first seven or eight episodes of Yes! 5 but so far it seems okay for newcomers. Especially since it's been like 15 years since the original and pretty much everyone in the fandom has an idea of the basics of the season.

I was hoping their Cure forms would get some kind of redesign but judging from the OP and how much they emphasised time in this episode, it looks like when they transform they'll revert to their younger selves. We can still be surprised next week though.

I watched both Splash Star and Yes when I was a pre-teen so the content is pretty relatable as the main characters are all almost my age now! Admittedly tho, they aren't my favorite seasons nor I have much nostalgic feelings about them (I'm more of a modern Precure trash lol) and Nozomi is one of those characters I got always irritated about (never likes her voice, her mannerism, nor her character design). But since she's now a teacher she's certainly more relatable and likable to me, especially since she has more mature mannerisms and voice.
I remember Yes being always compared to Tokyo Mew Mew a lot, and the only thing they lacked were the climate change and animal extinction themes (and a red main character for TMM lol). Guess they are now back on that to redeem themselves for not having those themes in the original seasons /j.
How are they going to handle the monsters anyway?? They are now full grown up adults and their CureMo have disappeared. It would be strange for them to transform as women but also, since the clocks are a big thing and they are everywhere in this show, does that mean they'll get back in time and younger to fight them??
For people wondering why they chose this season for Otona Precure, it's pretty simple: the Yes girls are crazy popular in the Japan, especially among women, who are the main target of this series. It's no mystery a good chuck of the 20th anniversary merch was all about them (and Futari wa of course). Same thing for the other season getting a sequel next year, Maho Tsukai, which is popular among both women and men.

Not sure if the winks at Splash Stars are really necessary but it was very pleasant to see the Yes girls a bit older. (It feels weird to see characters got older and now leaving in those fourteen years since I saw their adventures when I was spared from both XD.)
I know I would not have minded if they had left transformations, powers and even monsters in the dressing room too. Actually, I would have loved it !

And I will find the regress to teen body for powers sake very irritating when it will happen (next week?). But at least, with all the clocks, childhood talks and pictures in the first episode, I'm somehow prepared to it.

4/5 Still a blast.

Wondering why they made this show an ONA for an NHK web channel. Especially the one with educational purposes.

Yes 5 and Splash Star are still in my top 5 favorite Precure seasons, that’s great to see them being adults, outside of Nanoha StrikerS, i’ve never seen magical girls becoming adults, but correct me if i’m wrong. Wonder how it’s gonna turn, they’re definitely not going to transform again (though i’d hope for that), so it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll deal with these new monsters

On one hand, I'm really impressed Toei didn't pull any punches with Otona Precure. On the other, it's actually quite disheartening to see characters I love being subjected to the realities of adulthood. Got quite a bit of whiplash watching the first episode... Here's hoping they actually find a way to balance being able to win the day with the power of hope and not make it overly optimistic or idealistic. No idea how they're going to pull that off, but I'll keep my fingers crossed! (^.^')

Also, if they do end up doing more of these adult Precure stories, I hope they all won't be centered around the theme of "adulting sucks" because that will get really old really quickly. (^.^')

The writing is extremely weak and the animation was mediocre. It is so weird that it felt more childish than the similar episode from the current Precure series Hirogaru despite being apparently aimed at "adults".

@Hoppy I don't think either of those seasons would work. Neither of those seasons was about the environment. None of the HC were going into careers that involved the environment. GP has the same problem. Mermaid could make it work, but the others would be a struggle.

P5 works as it'll look at more than just the environment.

I have a feeling they’re going to make us wait until near the end to see the adult versions of their Precure forms (that is, if they don’t somehow solve this problem without transforming).

Overall, a very impactful first episode, although I’ll need to keep watching before giving a definitive rating. Right now, it’s hovering at around 7/10

Really surreal seeing so much alcohol in a precure show.

Clearly this season is going to have a climate change theme to it, hope they are able to do it correctly as it is a difficult topic to do without tipping too far in any direction.

I am interested in seeing were this one goes.

Wow. So many feelings on this one.

First, I'm so happy to see the Yes Precure 5 Gogo team again... I've watched this show at a time I needed it and it became one of my favorite Precure teams. So it really is awesome to see them again.

I've always dreamt about what kind of life the Precure could have led since their adventures, so seeing it is like a dream come true. I am not disappointed to see them tackle the actual feelings of adulthood. When I watched 5/gogo, the themes spoke to me a lot, now that I'm an adult, I relate to the hopelessness of job problems. I really feel that this is what I needed right now.

Also I really like the fact that the climate crisis is tackled first as a background noise, when other life problems are seemingly more "important", because it really is what is happening right now. I wonder how this will develop ?

Also, I pointed at every reference like that Di Caprio meme lol. If it keeps like that, I feel like I'm really gonna love this one. I'm so excited for what's next !
