How complete is the story in the manga? Does it have any options for a sequel or a full-fledged anime adaptation? From what I understand, even with 43 episodes, the anime only covers 1-2 arcs from the manga.

It's very complete.
The ending is extremely satisfying , and leaves readers feeling like everything has been done.

It's very , very easy to find a pretext to continue the story , and it's even exactly what was done with the Sequel Manga.

Honestly , the "Arcs" are just Onizuka helping one (group of) student.
It's pretty (semi-)episodic , with just some characters that were helped by him coming to help him a little bit later.

The Anime skipped a lot of chapters , and altered some , but it's still a very good adaptation.
However , it ended with 2 Anime-Original episodes that completely blocks it from getting a continuation faithful to the Manga.
I wouldn't exclude a Remake tho. It was (and still is) a very popular story , and there is a lot of 90s works getting Remade with nowadays' Animation standard.

@Alexioos95 I also thought it was a sequel. But I'm confused that MAL lists this as a spin-off. But anyway, do you think that GTO really has the potential for a remake or reboot in this day and age?

Dunno.
Maybe because it's hard to say that it's a Sequel with the first few chapters... ?

Yeah , why not ?
As i said , it was an extremely popular Manga , and we are getting a lot of Remakes.
It most probably will too , one day.

Dunno how the Sequel is doing in term of sales tho.

Nah its not a sequel , the spinoff story takes place between the main story

Paradise Lost is Officially a Sequel , and there is some cameos as well.
I don't remember them mentionning the exact timeline tho.

Are you not simply confusing it with Shounan 14 Days , which takes place after Chapter 156 of the Original Manga ?

Paradise Lost is a sequel and looks like it'll be the closing chapter of Onizuka's entire story. The only way I see GTO getting a full anime adaptation is if they did a reboot, like what's happening currently with Ruroni Kenshin.

@Stardew Drama? But the manga seems to already have 2-3, including the films?

@Stardew Well, we'll wait and see. Maybe this will repeat move with Kimi ni Todoke.
