Should I watch this movie before season 3?

Should I definitely watch this movie before moving on to season three? I've heard that it takes place right between seasons two and three, but I don't know how much of an impact that has on subsequent events or why it's only listed as a side story on MAL (albeit with an OVA that directly takes the story further).

Yea... my vivid memory do say there's a little detail about the character development which this story potrays.

Yes you should watch it before season 3. It's not like you won't understand what's happening in season 3 if you don't watch it but they do talk about some events from dead apple if I remember correctly. So it's better for the overall experience.
