Does the story ever get somewhere? I feel like nothing important happens in this anime, the characters are so boring, the humor isnt funny or cute, and things never change or progress, when the child was add I thought things would start to change but no.

I cant even tell what this anime is trying to be. Is it a slice of life with the most bland characters ever? Is it a romcom where no one is interested in anything?

Yes imo, I’m caught up with the manga and the story definitely got better. The current arc in the anime is quite good. Spoiler for future events:

. There’s actual plot development in later parts of the story and I was personally surprised with it.

Imo then this might not be the anime for you, I like the humour and characters, and even mostly from the latest ep things got interesting for me

This is a character driven show which got most of us hooked in season 1. but season 2 onwards including the ending have been pretty meh for the majority of the fanbase so there is that. If you don't enjoy the characters anymore, I suggest dropping it

Anime looks like joke now, its all over place. Idk how to comment on characters and story. Its like boring sol with rare fantasy elements and overly boring characters. Season 1 was perfection compared to this
