According to Anime!Anime!, FUNimation acquired licenses of Hetalia Axis Powers season 1 & 2 and Seiken no Blacksmith. Hetalia DVD Boxset volume 1 of 2 will be released at the end of this year and Blacksmith DVD volume 1 will be released this autumn. Both of the titles will be subbed and dubbed in English.

Meh, it looks like this will be another year I won't be spending much on anime DVDs, though I can imagine the fangirls all over the internet rejoicing over Hetalia.

Now if some R1 company will have the guts to license Mononoke, Mouryou no Hako and Nodame Cantabile.

i know that the survey from last year had Hetalia in it, but i never expect they don't mind the sorta "racism" in it (which South Korea made a huge fuss about even if to japan, korea is south korea.)

this will be the only anime i will have the whole series of. :] i already got the manga and don't mind if the manga gets licensed, too, mostly since some of the Tokyopop staff love hetalia, but instead of hinting they will licensed manga, they give us "someone license this series!" as in the anime. And now that the anime is licensed, it's one step closer to the manga.

I hope you guys in the UK and other countries that Funimation doesn't distribute their titles to, don't mind your loss of Hetalia and Blacksmith. It's not like Funimation is actively trying to kill the fansub community which is often your only chance of watching anime in your native language.

Oh wait...

I'm so friggin' happy.

If this had happened in time, I'd be nowhere near third.

Still, Hetalia is a smart choice from what I've read on it, but I really think someone dropped the ball in the Acquisitions department on Blacksmith. Seriously, you had Nyan Koi!, Kobato (a CLAMP series, which almost always sell well), and a bunch of other great stuff from some previous seasons that are unlicensed and you go with Blacksmith?

They probably decided to license Blacksmith before it even aired. I thought it was one of the most likely fall 2009 titles to be licensed back at the beginning of the FAL season, along with Kobato.

But after seeing the not-so-positive hype, they should have reconsidered, and attempted to license something with more positive hype such as Nyan Koi or even Kampfer.

*sigh* Time to download all Hetalia episodes before evil Funimation takes it down x3

Though I still might buy a couple of DVD from Funimation to support the copyright.Though I have to agree with the choice of Blacksmith. They should choose something better. Mouryou no Hako would be really great if they could license or other series that ended and had good reviews.

I'll definitely buy the Hetalia boxset when it's released. I just worry about the dub voices...Funimation usually does a good job but their Host Club dub disappointed me severely so now I just worry Dx

Well GG subs aren't going to stop releasing the eps unless Funimation sends them a C&D. but other than that, you'd just have to wait for the dvd releases in your area--or find a site that streams the episodes still and when they're dubbed.

Why Blacksmith!? Of all the titles in the world-- BLACKSMITH? Way to choose poorly, I hope they enjoy no sales.

Should have gone with Michiko to Hatchin. Americans might prefer to see that instead.

After watching the trailer for Blacksmith, all I could say was "ew". The animation didn't seem so bad and I was like "yeah ok". Then they started talking and the dialogue was just ick with cliches.

And as for the people who actually watched it, you don't hear too many kind things about it.

blacksmith was poor, true, they shouldn't have smoked the sutff they had when they decided to purchase it

I cannot judge for hetalia, because I didn't watch it, but seems like it was a good choice for them o.O lol

I havent completed Blacksmith yet (got like 3 episodes left to watch), from what I watched, it's boring, I held a high expectation for it at the beginning but was let down by the story.

Where does Funimation finds their "most awesome-est anime!!111" list for them to decide which to aquire. I think they should find another source or actually listen to the anime fans.

...I wanted them to aquire Nyan Koi or Kimi ni Todoke instead T_T

I've heard great things about Hetalia so I like this.

also, I would never listen to internet anime fans for suggestions for anything ever after how dissappointing the Lucky Star dub sales were.
