The broadcast of episodes 9 through 12 of NieR:Automata Ver1.1a ended with an announcement on Sunday that a second cours for the television anime is in production.

The first cours debuted on January 8; however, the airing was delayed fourth episode onward from January 29 to February 19 due to COVID-19's impact on the production. The broadcast was postponed once again following the eighth episode on March 19 due to COVID-19's increased toll on the production schedule. The four remaining episodes were subsequently scheduled for a July 23 airing.

Ryouji Masuyama (Blend-S) helmed the anime series at A-1 Pictures. Masuyama also handled the series composition alongside the video game's original creator Taro Yoko. Jun Nakai (Lord El-Melloi II Sei no Jikenbo) served as both the character designer and chief animation director. MONACA (Summertime Render) composed the music.

Developed by PlatinumGames, NieR:Automata was published by Square Enix on PlayStation 4 in Japan in February 2017, followed by North America and PAL countries in March that year. The game was also released on PC in the same month and on Xbox One in June 2018. The game serves as a sequel to the 2010 video game NieR—a spin-off to the Drakengard game series.

I mean, it was easy to guess it was gonna be 2 cours with how far the anime got compared to how much content is left to adapt

I’ve already said this but, I hope there aren’t anymore delays for the next cour.

That being said, I’m excited to see what stories can come up in the future given the nature of the anime.

They might as well not bother, first cour sank faster than Titanic.
