What is the nature of the relationship between sentient beings with respect to their reciprocal (or lack thereof) interactions? In an age where the rights of the individual are called into question by socioeconomic circumstances, and the evolving reality of artificial intelligence, it is more paramount than ever, to investigate the nature of freedom's meaning. In Synduality: Noir, ownership of a sentient being is deemed socially acceptable by the inhabitants of this world if they are artificial, and the wellbeing of such AI people is up to their owners, the identity of whom, is not of their own volition. But isn't the same to be said of many arranged marriages throughout history, during which time the physically stronger one remained as master? How is this not slavery? Just like the Irish, Scotts, and African Americans were held as slaves throughout a thousand years of history, so to were all those who have been held at the order of superiors against their will. This is the nature of slavery and it requires a master. But the master is not always a pathological controller in the nature of their relationship with the subject, who is subject to their order. Such is the case when a master is a legitimate master of some form of doing or other such that another voluntarily subject themselves to the master's instruction so that they might learn or operate in the world with maximum efficiency greater than their own capacity. When a subject is treated with respect as an individual with autonomy who is voluntarily obeying the edict of the master, then this is the nature of a true bond between a subject and master that generates greater complex novelty than would occur in the absence of such a bond. This is the nature of the relationship between Noir and Kanata as he refused to become her master until he knew it was voluntary and that makes the nature of this relationship distinct from slavery.

I agree with you, except they left out the butt-controls and Darling in the Franxx was at least 40% butt-controls so I'd say Synduality: Noir is less than 60% the same.

Don't want to talk the similarities with Darling, these shows have a completely different concept. But I agree that the way this show treats androids is very much like slavery.
